BD mounted cymbal arm - DW mount?

BD cymbal arm...I'm trying to figure the cheapest and best way to go about doing this.
I can get this one by Gibraltar for $40. I'm afraid it will be too high even at lowest setting. Hole drilling required. I need about 13" or 14" from the top of the drum in height.
http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics/products/regular/1/7/7/538177.jpg
removable DW mount. $20 Seems like a good option, clamp on, no holes. But how do I get this to go to mounting a cymbal?
http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics/products/regular/1/7/8/651178.jpg
This looks like it may work, but I'm not sure what the height would be clamped onto the above DW clamp. $35.
http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics/products/regular/9/1/3/226913.jpg

Has anyone done this? Any better cheaper route to accomplish my mission?

Going to be using mics Thursday at an outside jam. I swore I would never mic up a kit, but the sound just gets lost without them outdoors. I have had a set of Nady mics for over a year sitting in their case and never once fired them up. We'll see Thursday Anyway, I am going to mic the BD, one overhead and one close in to the snare/hats. I should have purchased a mixer when I bought them because I would prefer the snare and BD mics to be down low, but the overhead will allow me to bring a ride cymbal that would normally get lost in the mix.

Besides my local community college, AACC, does anyone know of drum instructors in/around the Annapolis, MD area?

I'm really look at trying to focus on some basics again- stick control, motion, independent coordination, etc... I think my playing has gotten a bit sloppy, and even though I'm practicing 30min-1hour a day on a drum pad, I think I'm practicing incorrectly. I would like to at least practice "properly". As much as a video would be helpful, I don't think it would be as good as having someone right there.

I'd love to practice with Bob McKee again, but alas he's up in Cleveland. He would straighten me out.

The Bad Plus' new album, Never Stop

As a huge Bad Plus fan, I can't believe I just found out about this today. I might have to talk to one of my regular bassists, an Australian, into iTunesing the album for me (it's already out in Australia, and you can get it off of iTunes if you have a credit card with an Aussie billing address)... else I'll just be glued to my computer, listening to NPR.org until the album comes out stateside on the 14th.

I've listened to a chunk of it, and... YES. "For All I Care" was great, but hearing these guys just go at it on original compositions... YEAH! They did the album almost entirely "live in the studio," pretty much first takes from what I've read, and I've been waiting for a TBP album like this for some time.

The whole band is incredible. Dave King is a madman (and after watching a promo video for the album on youtube, I'm reminded how much I want an acrylic bop kit).

Didnt like my drum sound yesterday

Got together with 3 of the four original members of the band I played in for 12 years (4th one did a no show) anyways for the first time in a long time I played without earplugs or hearing protection of any kind. Volume was okay although my ears were still ringing later , but my drum sound to me was terrible. I have gotten so used to what I hear with the plugs in, nobody else complained but I was real unhappy. We are going to get together again and I will go back to wearing protection:smile: but wonder if I shoud tune my drums differently. I love the sound I hear but am not sure what I am getting out front any more, yeah I guess I need to record it. Funny, I never had thought about it much when we were playing steady. Also could have been I was not excited about my playing stuff I have not played in 7 years but we all kind of had that problem.

As we were walking back to the car, we passed a small dark alley. I looked down the alley, and lo and behold there was a jazz club (Blues Alley) there. There was a sign with Peters name, paying with Eddie Daniels - Bob James Quartet with James Genus (bass).

We wandered down and the show had started. The cover was $50.00 (100.00 for both of us!). The nice lady at the door let us in for a few minutes to watch.

Which bass drum pedal?

I've decided to get a DW 5000 pedal. I know Travis Barker used somthing very similar, a DW 9000, I think, but I can't afford that. So I guess I will settle for a DW 5000.

Now I have to choose between DW 5000TD3 Turbo Chain-Drive Single Pedal or DW 5000AD3 Accelerator Chain-Drive Single Pedal

What is the difference?

I want to be able to play really fast, so whatever pedal is going to help me go the fastest.

Speaking of pricey sets and Modern Drummer mag

There's a review of a boutique brand drum set in the new issue of MD. It's a 3 pc. 18, 12, 14...no snare or hardware.
The price is $6000. (six thousand dollars for the three pieces) They look very nice. In the article, the reviewer says that they're light in weight, which would be nice for a gigging drummer moving his drums in out of clubs.

I was wondering what gigging drummer, who is spending a lot of time humping his kit around, has a $6K drum set???
