So I play in a reggae pop band and i have an Alesis Sample pad pro.

Our bass player may play keyboards on a few of the dance hall numbers and our leader thought that might be a great time for me to play an electronic sounding kick....i have a an old DW 5000/trigger that works fine...but given that the places we play have small to no monitors I'm thinking trigger the acoustic BD might be a safer bet live.

another thing to consider is that i use a practice kit and a gigging kit...so I'd want to move it from one to the other unless i can find a pair cheap...both are 22s.

Any decent trigger will work. Ddrum makes 2 versions. The cheaper attaches by using the t rod. The more expensive one clamps to the hoop and uses an xlr connector.

Not sure if Roland still makes triggers or not.

IMHO, the more expensive ddrum trigger is worth it....

As far as the the ddrum kick triggers, I have used both. I would skip the cheaper trigger and go for the pro model. It triggers well, and produces a good signal. I found the trigger that attaches to a lug put out a weaker and less consistent signal to the module.

Thanks...that one looks easy to carry move from kit to kit...and not a horrible price.

Hello!

What kind of sound module you would advise for the DDTKick?

This is what I personally use. Mine is 16 years old, and it still works like a champ.

Although this is modern, and would work just fine..
