Hey there, friends.   I rarely post here, but I thought I'd inquire about Ludwigold.

I've got two Ludwigold metal shell drums, a 6.5 Super and a 5 Standard.  The Standard is gorgeous- the Ludwigold is in tact, sparkly and classy.  The Super barely sparkles, and I'm at a loss.  I have it for sale, but would rather rescue it if possible.

Jeff Mercurio mentioned Nikolas Lacquers as having a sparkle that matches the original Ludwigold, but no photos have surfaced.  Does anyone here know Jeff's work?

Has anyone ever successfully restored one of these drums?  I've thought about going to one of my guitar repairmen and seeing about getting a matching paint job... but one can't be too careful.

Thanks for any suggestions.  My gut instinct is to leave well enough alone, but the drum really doesn't 'pop' unless it's in a certain light.  I've also thought that perhaps a tint might help...

Experts, speak up!

Me personally wouldn't touch the finish until you get more info.

I think those are quite rare and delicate.

I would try Curotto on here I am sure he could help with some info on this.

Good luck , cool snares.
