Oh come on. No replies? I know there's a ton of us here with a vintage MIJ snare. Here's mine, an Apollo 5.5 x 14 with six lugs, the tone control removed at the moment (which it frankly sounds better with) and a need for rounder edges than the double 45s it has. I'm going to see what my recently found router can do soon.

It was my first snare. I know that with a little work, there's a Pioneer hiding in this package.

A Tempro, a Dixie, a Majestic/Mica-Sonic combo, and an Eastern snare.

I'm really liking the Majestic hybrid! Excellent refinishing. Boy, there's no mistaking which end of the bass drum is the batter, is there? ;)

This started off by being a kit I  could leave without worry about it being stolen.  It was in an ugly blue wrap.  I have since refinished and it is a pretty good kit. I stained it to match the Tama snare.

My kind of thread. Here's a video breakdown of my Stewart kit. I hope to do videos of my other MIJ kits, when I get time.

A long term resto project - I think this is non-Star Hoshino, but there's a definite Star-ishness coming through.  There is no badge, but a pennant-shaped glue stain where it was.  Have not been able to properly id this drum.  Just the BD for the moment...

The WMP and BDP kits were re-wraped and the Baxter kit is original.

I love a Rose/Red Pearl finish. I wish Ludwig made those in the 60s!

one of the MIJ makers made a pink pearl wrap...I have seen it.  I remember because there was a huge metal plate installed on the top of the bass drum, as if someone chopped a huge hole in it and the owner wanted to cover it....and I mean huge.

WOW! Some amazing looking drums in this thread. These are my Zim Gar Slingerland knockoff tubs in a crazy finish called Gold Ingot. Like mustard and snake skin, so ugly it's beautiful.

I've always liked that wrap. Never seen any in person. But in pics they just really look neat. Great dimension in the wrap. Very nice!
