I think it's a great idea. After all, It does cost money to maintain this site, no?

Hi, I just wanted to drop a line, I am working with tech and advertising guy to try to offset the costs here and raise a little revenue, as we grow the need for bigger and better

is a reality. I know some of you may not want it but I can say I belong to another forum where they have it and it's no big deal and a great way to keep the site free.

I see the ad. No problem for me as long there won´t be pop-ups and stuff.

Lets just avoid the pop ups that come up over what you are reading.. I think we will continue to contribute as we can to keep it a minimum... but of course this forum costs $$$,.. and I tell you.. it's a little sad,.. but I enjoy it almost as much as playing the drums..

I'm fine with it now that I know it was meant to be there,  I was more worried that there was something goofy going on.

This is Rob and I am helping Ben out with advertising and tech, which is my full time job for many forums. We are adding advertisements as a means to support the site , which is free. We won't show pop ups and set up the layout so that it won't disrupt your viewing experience.

Yeah I guess I don't really mind the ads in its current state either.  For what I get out of this place it's a pittance.

I worry a bit about a slippery slope towards something that's annoying enough to drive people (and me) away as costs mount or whatever though.  There was no head's up that I saw for this change either, although I'd guess the 'better to ask for forgiveness than permission' was the thinking there.

It's the love of money that's the root of all evil, but we can't discuss the source of this quote here.

And I have no problem with banner ads at the top of the pages.  I fully understand the need to pay for this excellent site.

I don't see any on my phone but I have no issue with it. One question I have however, I wonder if it would work. Somehow, I doubt it.
