I saw Mike Portnoy's new band, Sons of Apollo the other night.

I was very impressed, as they sounded very good.  My girlfriend especially liked the lead singer.  He did put on a good show.

I was a little disappointed that Mike didn't play a solo, but it was still a very good show

I think this is Mike's best band since he left Dream Theater

Anybody else see them?  What did you think of their show?

Thanks for the heads up.

Saw him with my son opening with Dream Theater for Yes's 35th Aniver. tour, 2nd row, and  my son commented a few times that Mike P spitting constantly on the stage off to the right of his hi-hat made him sick to his stomach !!   Also the 4 bass drum set he used brought some funny conversation with folks around us about "octotopus boy"...... obviously it was a Yes audience !!

Yeah, I noticed Mike spitting everywhere.   Not a pleasant site.

Saw Sons two months ago. Went in with low expectations given their album sounds like generic rock but they were fantastic live. Sheehan, Portnoy and Bumblwfoot are fantastic together [plus both guitartists played double necks to add to the sweetness] and some of their jams were incredible. They really locked down their complex grooves, highly recommend seeing them.

We saw him on that same tour. DT had the chops. Yes had the songs.

Hey guys  --  I caught that same tour at an outdoor amphitheater in New Mexico........................awesome.

It was located next to a casino  --  before the concert, about three in the afternoon, Petrucci sat down and played a few hands at my blackjack table.

I was the only person at the table that knew who he was.

I thought it was smart of those guys to open for a Yes Tour  --  I remember it was right after they released 6DOIT.

+1 On the cool moment !   Yeah, Mike is a monster, and adding Billy Sheehan to the mix ? !!!!

D.T.'s keyboard player Jordan lives a couple miles north of me in a condo complex, and a few friends know him and stated he is a really nice, humble guy !! :-)
