Despite doing my best to be a well-rounded musician and dabbling with jazz, latin, and other genres; home base for me is really somewhere in the middle of rock, blues, and soul. A nice solid 4/4 backbeat with some ghost notes and a little swinging hop is heaven. 60's was good, 70's was ok too, things got lost in the 80's and then the 90's happened. To me, the 90's is really the golden age of music. You had talented folks still playing actual instruments and we finally had good enough recording tech to capture it well.
Anyway, I sold my Frequent Flyer kit and quit trying to pretend I was a jazzer. I made a simple setup with some of my Broken Glass Collectors drums and complimented it with my Ludwig 6.5x14 Black Beauty (thanks Aparker!), some 60's Zildjian 14" A hats, a 19" Kerope and a 24" Kerope.
I swear, I could play the rest of my life with this setup. I've enjoyed my kits in the past, but I swear every time I sit down behind this kit the sounds bring a smile to my face. Just beautiful. Hope you enjoy and thanks for letting me share!
