yamaha drums china?

everyones yamaha drumsets say made in japan .. mine say made in china .. ive looked through drum catalogs and I still can't figure out what yamaha kit I have. They are great sounding drums .. when I play other peoples drums they don't compare to these.. the original snare was yamaha steel snare .. now using chad smith snare .. all heads are remo black suede emperor


it was purchased in the mid 80's my mom bought it for my dad who also plays

any info would be nice .. and sorry for bad grammar i broke my right arm so no drums or guitar for me till i get this cast off :(

these pictures are kinda old I have a much better setup now.. need more ill post more

I sold those in the late 80's. They are the "Road" series. Republic of China "ROC" is Taiwan. Depending on whom you ask, it is not really China. Yamaha didn't really make them, there were "stencil-kits" where manufacturers just lent their names to a mass-produced factory in Taiwan. There is nothing wrong with them, but they're not really Yamahas. All Yamahas at the time were made in Japan.

hmm.. so my mom claims to have spent like $600-800? false? and you think I'm better off buying a new yamaha kit for 600-1000 would i know the diff?
