i am looking at a black/white badge 14x5 ludwig snare on ebay. it is red wrapped, looks like maple outer ply, has standard lugs, looks like a thin shell, no re-rings with the spray coating inside. i am guessing 80's 4 ply shell?? what do these snare drums sound like, or are they toys? thanks for any input. the snare is missing the p-85, but we've all got one of those, and it is cheap.

p83...

I second Mike's endorsement... I picked up one of these ply

shell B&O badge snares with the brown speckeled Granitone interior.

No complaints... believe it was listed as the L-600 model.

Could have been a bad day at the plant for the laborer drilling

for the P-85 ... he missed center mass by "that much". Nice bearing

edges ...tunes easily ... nice drum. Not sure if Lud induced any

changes with the B & W badged snares.

Peace, Chas

I have one of those as well, with B/O badge. I think they were sold a lot as student snares. I put a Black Dot on it and 16-strand Puresounds, and I really like the sound I get out of it.

the blue olive models that are shown in the 84 catalog are listed as s/l drums, something for less.
