Leedy "Concert King" SD 6.5"x14" (Thanks 4164SB for the ID)

I bought this from a guy who had two of the exact same drum, the one for sale being the better of the two - If I remember right, the badge had been bent or partially broken, and so he took the better badge and put it on this drum.

Blue sparkle 3ply mahogany shell with maple rerings. Beautiful interior and it does have a stamp - Mar 3 1958. Two issues to be noted: Some of the lugs have a few small pitting marks in the chrome, nothing serious or "supra" by ANY means but they are there. The top "thumb screw" lever of the three point strainer has been painted silver or something, my guess was because the chrome had flaked or rusted. The rest of the throw however, does have its chrome, though there is some pitting on the very bottom half that holds the gut/wires. Still looks good and works great. RK-type double pad muffler. Tension rods appear to be original and definitely Slingerland. Wires are not original, some cheap wires that came with the drum when I bought it.

I've seen a lot of the 60's Leedy 5" Shelly Manne drums but not a 50's 6.5" in this style, so I thought it was extra cool. Whoever gets this drum will be very happy! I played it a lot because It does a lot.

Any questions or requests for more photos please PM or email!

Looks to be a 'Concert King' from the 1956-1965 time period. Nice drum!

There is just something about them - Great, solid designs and are just plain classy. There was a 40's BDP parallel on ebay that I was gunning for but lost it. (If anyone won that drum and isn't 100% happy... let me know)

Definitely interested in trades by the way - Any vintage drums, but 80's Tamas, the Yamaha Elvin Jones drum, and a Brady drum I'd love to work out a deal for too.

I just cut an album with a 6.5x15" Leedy, and wow, I'm in love. This could and should be a nice main snare for someone.

They are truly wonderful drums. Most seem to have held on for decades - built very well.
