Well, i finally found one ! A 1960's slingerland model 156 "artist" model snare drum, resplendant in champagne sparkle. This thing is gorgeous, with near perfect chrome, and flawless pearl. This is the only one that I have ever seen with ten lugs. Has anybody seen one of these ?

They became available in '64, but yours is the first I've seen. Nice find!

Beauty Rich. Pretty rare combo of solid shell and ten lugs. Any more deets on the score?

Here's my Solid Artist in CS but with 8 lugs.

I have a 1963 Artist with ten lugs in WMP. 5 1/2". Currently my best and favorite wood snare. Oh yeah, solid shell.

Single ply Artist model love! Anyone want to remove the wrap from theirs and see if the shell has the lathe marks where they turned the exterior of the shell to make it round? ;)
