I don't mean to disrespect Joey Kramer, but didn't he leave Aerosmith years ago?  Is he even a relevant drummer anymore?

Joey Kramer never left Aerosmith, Joe Perry and Brad Whitford did, in the early 80s I saw Aerosmith as Aerosmith with only 2 original members, it was at the Worcester Centrum and Joey Kramer did not play, Bobby Rondelli did. It was Steven Tyler, Tom Hamilton, Jimmy Crespo, Rick Dufay and Bobby R.   I have seen that same lineup With Joey Kramer, totally different sound, Both are fine rock drummers, but Joeys style is Aerosmith.

I have seen them 60+ times since 1973. I have seen Steven T forget most of the words and pass out, Brad and Joe muff guitar parts etc.

The 2 rocks of the band are Tom and Joey. He is solid, musical and provides a platform which the others can really motor on.

+1. Joey is seriously underrated-I know I never really appreciated how great he is until a few years ago. Some solid playing, great feel, and one of the most recognizable drum intros ever (Walk This Way). Dig him.

BBeyer-Pearl is so far ahead in the percussion industry I don't think anyone will catch them for several years if at all.  From tom masking plates to latin percussion to orchestra percussion they have it all covered.  Innovation?  No doubt they take a strong lead here too.  Good solid company that stays on course in a changing industry with solid, affordable products from the beginner to the seasoned pro.

I'd beg to differ on the innovation part…. Their innovation seems to come from other places...

Yes! Pearl doesn't make concert (orchestra) percussion - they bought Adams to do that. A great business move, IMO, but anything innovative in that field doesn't come from Pearl. I'd rank Yamaha and Mapex/Majestic right up there with them in the total percussion game. As far as drum set innovation, I'd put (again) Yamaha and DW right up there if not ahead of Pearl.

Pearl makes great products, but so do a lot of other companies.

Didn't say they made everything.  Just stating that there is no one bigger than Pearl in the percussion industry.  Yes, Yamaha bought Degan for mallet instruments and I'm sure acquired other entities to make gear with their logo (e.g. Sakae).  And for innovation?  E Pro comes to mind immediately and could certainly come up with other innovations.  Can't be on top without some sort of "new" and "better" throughout the years.

Well, Yamaha did not buy Deagan to have them make mallet instruments. They bought the name only and made a glock and chimes that were patterned after Deagan models; the key is Yamaha made them themselves. As for the E Pro, I'll grant you that it's creative, but how well has it sold?

Like I said, Pearl does make great stuff.

Ridiculous! I just can't believe what is going on! Ludwig is losing artists and I don't understand how, when the hardware is incredible now!

Steven Tyler is actually a better drummer than Joey Kramer. I wonder if Tyler could score a Pearl Endorsement Deal too. :)

Steven Tyler is actually a better drummer than Joey Kramer.

Based on the clips I've seen, this simply is not true. Not even close.
