#1577031 Road Trip to INDe drums yesterday

Posted by mpungercar on 10 July 2017 - 11:52 AM

Jeeze....a 15 too..... Must resist.....LOL

Its a great sounding snare. Very fat with a great shell tone.

I bought a 5.5x15 that should be here tomorrow. I'm very much looking forward to playing it, especially when I read comments like this.

#1547382 Trying to maximize resonance/sustain of Tama Granstar Customs

Diplomats resonate LESS. They're also a pain because they need to be tuned more frequently.

#1477117 Pros & Cons of die-cast hoops

I wonder which has a more "focusing" effect: die-cast hoops, or reinforcement rings?

Definitely the die-cast hoops.

DWCP3500T 2 leg hi hat

#1221303 No showing off... just good honest playing with great feel. The drummer just...

Posted by mpungercar on 13 February 2015 - 03:56 PM

I suppose the guy is playing what he should, but man I'm so glad I don't have to play this stuff. Been there done that...zzzzzz

I like to call it "Fun for everyone but the drummer music".

#1144800 Terry Bozzio performance astounding! With photos

Posted by mpungercar on 12 September 2014 - 03:00 PM

I saw him a few years back at the Drum Pad's 25th anniversary thing. I know I'll probably get flamed for this, but I was bored with his performance.

#894911 OT New Black Sabbath

Posted by mpungercar on 22 April 2013 - 04:25 PM

the problem with being a 40 year old band is, if they had changed there sound the true Sabbath fans would have cried that they sold out. If they stay true to there fans then the other half will cry that they are washed up and it out of date...

Personally, I think we're way past the "sold out" AND "out of date" for Sabbath.

#862385 Seating New Drum heads?

Posted by mpungercar on 20 February 2013 - 04:26 PM

I always seat the head.

After I’ve tensioned the head up to where I want it, I’ll press down in the center of the head then retune the head back up to where it was. The first couple times I do this, the head will drop in pitch a considerable amount. I continue this process until the head stays at the desired pitch. Then I fine tune the head making sure the pitches are the same at each lug and I’m DONE! No waiting overnight, no wax, no hair dryers, and the head stays in tune.

I guess we all find out a process that works for us.

#727654 OT: Our New Ride

Posted by mpungercar on 23 April 2012 - 07:11 AM

I appreciate that everyone has their opinions vis-a-vis differing standards of living, economies, and job motivators. I come to a drum forum to read about drumming, topics related to drumming, and music. Seeing the equipment other people use is part of why I come here. However, when the posts become almost entirely focused on high-end gear purchases (drums, cars, or otherwise), the balance feels out and rather tactless.

Interesting then that you would feel the need to read and then post a reply to a topic that was clearly labled as off topic.

#651287 Vinnie Out Of His Element?

All this just reminds me of how much I HATE playing with "lead" bass players. Give me a guy who likes to lock in any day.
