About Me

From Truro Nova Scotia, David Cronkite has been teaching and playing drum set, percussion, and piano for 40 years. His teaching style is fun, engaging, and in-depth. David has two kids in the arts: Ana who studies film at Humber, and Max who plays and teaches bass, and will be studying ancient history at Carleton.

• Bachelor of Music from Mount Allison University. Dean’s list four years in a row.

• Bachelor of Education from Ottawa University.

• Composed for pop band, percussion ensemble, and jazz groups.

• Sings back up, plays piano, and has performed the music of The Beatles, Brahms, Broadway, Be-Bop, and everything in between.

• David writes for DRUMS etc. Magazine and played in Sway, Ottawa’s top dance band, for five years.

• Voluntarily taught a local grade eight percussion ensemble for eight years and a percussion course at Long Bay Arts Camp.

• In Halifax to teach percussion and piano at a seniors band camp at the Rebecca Cohen Auditorium.

• Played drums for Nova Scotia’s touring band (included recording artist Melanie Doane) in the 1984 Summer Games.

• Drummer and pianist for the St. Lawrence Stage Company.

• Performed on CBC radio, CBC TV, and ITV in England.

•  Drummed for his high school band when they won the Canadian National Stage Band competition in 1980.
