Started drumming in 3rd grade. My sister started with piano lessons, and my parents decided I needed a musical instrument to keep me occupied too. Drums it was.
25+ years later, I'm still banging on things, although I've taken a sabbatical more than once for extended periods of time.
I'm currently in a three piece band "Unfiltered" that's working on recording a EP, and prepping for gigs....which comes first, that is the question.
I just purchased my first new (used) kit since my Mom bought me a silver Pearl Export Maxim back in 1988 and which I sold in 1998. It served me well, gigging with my garage band back then, and going on to another kid learning drumming. Should have kept the pies though.....
In any case, I picked up a Mapex M-Birch in Amber Honey. Toms are 10, 12, 13, and 16, with a 22 kick, and the ever present 14 x 5.5 snare. It had EC2 heads already installed and man does it thump. I'm loving it, just set up as a one up/one down kit right now. Pies are 13" K/Zs, 16" Paise Sig Thin Crash, 16" Zildjian A Medium Thin Crash, and 20" Paiste Sig Dry Ride.
Last band (Unfiltered) folded due to guiter player drama, but I got lucky and a buddy quickly plucked me when he found out. Now I'm in an all original band 4-F that's already gigging regularly.
