Working professionally at his own recording studio in Morrisville, NC, full-time for over seventeen years, additional experience was gained doing part-time work for various studios [Heartsong Studios/Studio 313 - full & part time], including extensive session work with local songwriters/bands.

Currently gearing up to record the band Triple Fret.

Bongo John has taken over 25 artists from ground-up to completion of EP and/or album projects in the past 3 1/2 years. He has extensive experience with ProTools 10/TDM, Logic Pro X, and Sonar 8 recording software platforms. For video, Bongo utilizes Vegas 12 & Final Cut Pro X.

Bongo utilizes Miroslav Philharmonic, Sibelius, Reason, and a substantial library of VST-based sounds, from fully arranged classical works, to unique other-worldly loops/beats which are built from ground-up to reflect the musical idea at hand.

Some influences are the works of Ravel, Rachmaninoff, Laurie Anderson, John Cage, Phillip Glass, George Winston, Frank Zappa, Danny Elfman, to name a few. Bongo has created soundtrack for several films by Guerilla Pictures, as well as string arrangements for several artists in studio.

Bongo has received favorable write-ups in Modern Drummer & Drum! magazine. He has released 4 solo albums in the genres of progressive pop, meditative piano, and specifically writes for film. His latest efforts include the majority of piano work for the film "The Satellite Men" by Tom Sylvester.

He just recently completed his drum book/DVD package known as "The Bongo Method" and is working with several clients: Jordan Okrend out of NYC, Triplicity (his own band), Thick Modine, and Bellflower. He also performs professionally as a drummer for two bands: Triplicity (progressive instrumental) and Plutopia (dance-hall reggae).
