Hoping I can get some help here . . . Trying to design a fairly universal snare butt, and need to know what are the hole spacings on some common parts. I know the Ludwig stuff, but any hole-hole measurements for common butt plates would be very much appreciated! Slingerland? Gretsch? Other common ones that often need replacement? Thanks in advance!
The designs with a slotted hole that allows for multiple spacing options seem like a great idea, if they reach far enough. Just my 2 cents. p.s. I love your lug designs.
Maybe also consider designing for butts with vertical hole placement? Gretsch Lightning, 70's Sonor and Pearl....
This thread can be a whole lotta wrong if we aren't careful... I just had to smile when I think of the Google search results in which this thread might appear...
I'm actually not going to give up the measurements for my Pearl because there's nothing wrong with the throwoff/strainer. My tom mounts are already worth a substantial fraction of the kit they mount.
The widest Ludwig spacing is 2 3/16" (56mm). Does anyone have anything wider than that they would like to replace?
That could be the standard, then you could have the Kardashian model that wraps half way around the drum
First off, I really enjoy your ideas and innovations and designs! The classic Ludwig P32 is 2". Some of those import snares have 2 7/16" (see link): https://www.drumfactorydirect.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6_104_110&products_id=2406 Also, the older DW's have a pretty large butt plate (late 90's) - I have 2 DW/Craviotto snares with that large butt - I can't stand it but it works great. Very similar to this Gibraltar which is 2 3/4": https://www.drumfactorydirect.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6_104_110&products_id=6177
