I'm a e-drum newbie and just bought a used Roland TD-1KV but want to replace the hi-hat controller pedal. I looked at the Roland FD-8 and FD-9 but really don't know how to tell the difference in the play-ability or reliability of the two. Can anybody help me with this or suggest another pedal? Thanks in advance!

Reliability? Don't get an FD8. Design problem with the actuator - a lump of rubber that goes hard - check the net for loads of examples and hack fixes...

+1 for the FD8 pedal issues. I never thought I would have to use a microwave and vaseline to fix my electronic hi-hat pedal!!!
