I wasn't one of those guys that started playing because I saw Ringo on Ed Sullivan but do you think that the stir Elvis caused,
well his band really, made a few kids out there want to pick up the sticks as well?

Always loved his style. Honestly, he was my favorite part of the those early Elvis songs.

Throughout his storied career DJFontana stood among the architects of rock drumming, the man is an icon.

When informed about his induction into the R & R Hall Of Fame he reportedly replied that he wasn't sure he'd be able to attend the ceremony since he had a gig that night!.....He found a sub, obvs.

    So Long, DJ

Me with DJ in a Nashville recording studio last year, and DJ behind a replica of his original kit in the same studio. Fond memories. fullsizeoutput_3746.jpeg IMG_0973.JPG

Now that band is together again....silver lining.

BigBeat, you were very lucky to have met him.

My condolences to his family and friends.

I learned a lot playing along with my sister's Elvis records (Walk, Don't Run by The Ventures started me off)
Elvis' band and the Jordanaires were a great influence to both my drumming and singing.
