1983 Gretsches, 22, 12, 14, 16.

I just bought a set very similiar to these, 12-13-14 mounted toms, 14&16 floor toms, 14x5.1/2 snare, 22 bass drum same color, hardware etc... I am trying to determine the year model. The bass drum is a model 4247 S/N 27027 - snare drum is a model 4158 s/n 21942 - 12" tom is a model 4415 s/n 26862 - 14" floor tom model 4417 s/n 32441. grey/white logo tag, hand written model # & typed s/n, hex head screws, same badges, silver interior. Could you tell me if this is similiar info compared to yours. Also what are the shells made out of & what do you call the finish. Any help is much appreciated, may be looking to trade 22" bass drum on a 24" if one is out there & add a 10" tom.

These are the classic USA Custom Gretsch 6-ply Maple/Gumwood Jasper shells with 30 degree bearing edges. The same formula they've been using essentially since the early 60's (Jasper shells through some time in the 2000's). My serial numbers are very similar to yours and are in the 26xxx range with the same tag type and written model, typed s/n, and I know mine date to 1983 because I bought them off the original owner. The finish is called Walnut Lacquer. Awesome drums and congrats on yours! Hope that helps!

Thanks, please see pics of the kit I put up today. Satin Tabasco or Burnt Orange ? So far everyone is about 50/50. Pretty much identical to yours, thanks.

Sooooo nice.
Wish I'd had a chance to play 'em when we all met up at Coastie's house.
