I've been playing for about 23 years and collecting for about 7 years - mostly Ludwigs but have a new found admiration of the craftsmanship and history of Gretsch. Without sounding too corny, I've played mostly rock in my career but have reinvented myself with jazz. I've always been a fan but am really emersed into the 50s and 60s be-bop era - Blakey, Roach, Lewis, Papa Joe and others. The cymbals they played as well - the whole K Istanbul line really excites me and I'd like to know more about them by meeting others on this site who have similar interests.

"By the Be-bop era, jazz drumming had become as technically demanding as trying to undo a four-hook bra strap while driving a stick-shift."
