How About Songs w/Ride Cymbals That We Liked?

Hasn't it already, with modern music? I figured the only drummers still using ride patterns were the old ones.

How About Songs w/Ride Cymbals That We Liked?

He had a certain way he played the ride that sounded so good...and I wonder just what model it was. It may well be that Jim himself didn't actually know - back then, drummers went into shops and tried cymbals, rather than specific model lines of cymbals. Nobody seems to know what model it was...

Suggestion to Admin: an O.T. Area

It's a bad idea. I've been a member here since the DCI / Harry Cangany days, and one of the best things about this forum is how well-moderated it is. It's basically safe for children, and, most of the time, pros, to come here and not see anything offensive. The people who want the "no holes...

    18 y/o Karen Carpenter

This was the first chance I've had to watch the entire performance (originally posted) at good volume and sound quality. The whole trio was great, but Karen was superb. I disagree with what was said previously about her vocal performance - I think it was fantastic, especially for someone playing...

How About Songs w/Ride Cymbals That We Liked?

I honestly love both versions. The live version, though, has some of the best drumming I've ever heard...and I mean ever...and his ride work on that version led me to getting a K Con.

That is a cool video; never saw it before! Loved her voice; loved her drumming.

Ludwig 110th Anniversary Classic Maple Vintage Emerald Pearl. Opinions?

Man, that is one gorgeous Ludwig kit. Tell me - is the badge more of a heavy-duty badge, or is it more lightweight / flimsy?

How About Songs w/Ride Cymbals That We Liked?

You beat me to it. Took me years to get that down. To me, this version is the mack daddy of all ride work I've ever heard. Look at all of the comments made about Jim Gordon on this YT post - they almost outnumber the comments about Clapton: Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad (Live)

Neil Peart and the Ludwig era...

You're probably referring to my thread, which was moved to the cymbal forum. I've looked more into it, and there is no unanimous agreement on the model, only the provenance. The Drum Center of Portsmouth has a series of Zildjians that are tributes to famous drummer's rides; one is modeled...

Neil Peart and the Ludwig era...

Looks like thin shell solved the mystery with the quote from MD, where Neil listed them as Super Classics.

Neil Peart and the Ludwig era...

Does anybody know if Neil's Ludwigs were the Super Classic 4-ply, or Classic 6-ply? I seem to remember someone here posting that they were Super-Classics.

    O.T. It's COLD and snowy!

We wre snowed in most of the last 12 days...massive melt-off began yesterday; more than half is gone now. We had, in the follwoing order: 2 weeks ago: 1/4" ice, 4" snow, 1/8" Ice. Then last Wednesday night: 5 more inches of snow. So, ice, snow, ice, snow layers. It's going to be another few days...

O.T. Firing a Client... (long post warning)

The customer IS always right...within reason. Her behavior is not within reason. However...I really feel for those of us who are in customer service, because anyone can go on social media and exaggerate (or outright lie) about perceived mistreatment or unfair policies. I see it all the time. We...

Neil Peart and the Ludwig era...

Fine-sounding drums! Were those Super Classics? 4-ply maple/poplar? Of course, they had fiberglass on the insides of the shells, so no other drums will ever sound like those.
