Newbie - Premier fan - I just bought a Premier Resonator Black Shadow

Well I gave the rack toms a bit of a clean a couple of weeks ago. Here are the results. I went for Aquarian Super 2 coated batters and Classic Clear resos. Lovely warm but punchy sound. Few close ups : 8x9 10x9: 13x9: Clockwise from top left: 8, 12, 13, 10: L to R: 13, 8, 10, 12...

Ah ok, I'll look into clear batter heads too. In general I prefer the warmer sound of coated batters. Of course, whatever makes the drums sound at their best is good, so will investigate clears too. Do clears mean the drums are still versatile in different styles, or are they mainly for 'big'...

Yes thinking clear resos would be best - also means you get to see inside the drum to view the liners.

Thanks! I'm thinking Aquarian Super 2s for the toms - inbetween a single-ply and 'full' 2-ply. Maybe something warmer on the bigger toms; I can do some more research on that.

Premier Genista 90's. Some opinions needed

Genistas are great drums. I have a 90s set in Cobalt Blue - 8/10/12/14/16/22 with both sizes of matching snares. The toms are very easy to tune. No doubt this is due to the undersized shells. The 22 bass drum is great. Coated batter heads sound lovely on the toms. It would pair nicely with your...

Newbie - Premier fan - I just bought a Premier Resonator Black Shadow

Picked up the kit yesterday. Definitely worth the four hour round trip! Sizes are 8x9, 10x9, 12x10, 13x9, 14x12, 15x14, 18x16 and 18x16 bass. I am the 4th owner from new. They largely date from mid to late 80s. The seller said it was originally sold as a bop kit - 10/12 toms, 13 as mini floor...

Ah, I realise it does look like that doesn't it! Perhaps I misphrased; I haven't bought a large kit to only use the 18x16 bass drum and disregard all the other toms, since I was drawn to a few of the toms as well (I now see that I didn't say that in my first post; apologies. I wrote it late and...

Thanks. Yeah a 22” BD would be great but I definitely don’t have space for one yet. Maybe in the future!

No; I’ve heard them, and have played on a set of Resonators once in the past and remember liking them.

Hi, newbie here! I'm dab35dab35. I'm primarily an orchestral/classical percussionist but have branched out into the kit world. I've had somewhat of a struggle with 'kit anxiety' (which I've learned is apparently not uncommon with classical percussionists!). Whilst I've sat at drums before and...
