    First ever tour bus run...

Buffalo was the first show of the tour and it KILLED. I was watching from sidestage and thinking "Man, this is going to be a good tour." I am a huge Buffalo fan, btw. One of my favorite cities in America. I'd move there tomorrow for a gig!

    First ever tour bus run...

If you ever find yourself on a bus tour, here are the rules! Someone already mentioned rule #2 (about #2 on the bus), but rule #1 is: Sleep with your feet towards the driver!! That way if you get into a collision you break your ankles, not your neck. Rule #3: Have a bus bag- your big suitcase...

SOLD! Thanks for reading! Price drop $450.00 + shipping. Gretsch USA Custom Limited Edition Retro 4ply Snare Drum 14x5

My experience is that wooden Gretsch snares have a really extraordinary dynamic range. I'm a huge fan. I just built one up for myself, but this one is really great sounding!

Love my DW pedal conversion to Strap Drive

I'm a tinkerer when I'm not on the road! I had to give it a whirl, but yeah, there were set screws and little parts everywhere around here a few hours ago.

Love my DW pedal conversion to Strap Drive

If I find another donor DW5000 pedal, I may order a set of the 3/4 and 7/8 permanently lubricated bearings from McMaster Carr and see if they feel any better/faster/smoother. The trade number on the smaller DW bearing is 626z, which means outside diameter of 19mm or 0.748031 (basically 3/4")...

Love my DW pedal conversion to Strap Drive

Every single part you need to do this conversion is at Drum Factory Direct online. If you're doing this conversion: Heat the set screws with a hair dryer for about thirty seconds to loosen the Loc-Tite! Remove all four with a 3/32 allen key. Place them on your tabletop or work bench so that...

    Time to replace kick batter

Man, I think about this way too much. Way too much. If you want a set it and forget it head? PS3, coated. You can pretty much put anything on the resonant side if you do that, and it'll sound pretty ok. If you're going for a really vintage sound, plenty of attack, but not too much woof-...

    Nuçi’s Space Fundraising Auction

Hello, everyone! Since covid killed my touring career for a while, I started working for a suicide prevention nonprofit in Athens, GA whose primary focus is paying for mental health care for musicians. Part of the way we pay for it is by providing low-cost rehearsal rooms, an inexpensive...

Before and After- Round Badge floor tom

Before and After- Round Badge floor tom

So, in the past I've used a buddy's spray booth to do this, but right now there are supply chain issues with nitro-cellulose lacquer. Because I was impatient and because I knew that these were going to be my drums and I'd be ok with a few imperfections, I just bought rattle-can nitro, heated...

Before and After- Round Badge floor tom

Barkeepers Friend, a polishing wheel and lots of patience! Pedro, I have an ongoing project of "lost cause" round badge shells that I strip, clean, and lacquer. I've discovered that a peeled round badge shell is one of the best sounding drums out there, and I work for a suicide prevention...

Really proud of this one! I can post more After photos tomorrow if anyone's interested. Badge is a reproduction. Finish is black nitro lacquer.
