  • GD .... My grandfather ( mum) was a professor in the faculty of music at Riga university . He would spend the summer vacation aboard trans atlantic cruise liners playing trumpet in jazz bands . During the nazi occupation of Latvia he refused to take down the Latvian flag on campus and a result died in one of the concentration camps . My dad was Polish, I was raised Roman Catholic, but... who knows ?

Funny my grandparents on my moms side were from Odessa in the and fled around 1900s
At that time the Jews were kept out of most cities and herded into shedls I believe they called it

their village was destroyed and my grandfather was one of the few who got out

I’m sure we lost many relatives in the camps
And everyone on my mothers side was askenazi Jews
