    Grease ..drummer s on trakcs

For what it's worth, I dug this up. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grease_(song) I not familiar with Ron Ziegler and this did come off of wikipedia but it seems to have some pretty sound information. The Four Seasons religiously used Buddy Saltzman on drums but Frankie Valli as a solo artist...

Working Drummers only...What did you get for your NYE gig...Let's be honest

Florida has been operating in a post pandemic mode for most of the year. This crowd was obviously mostly snowbirds and covid refugees...they wanted to party but were awkward about it. It was weird to watch adults acting like teenagers.

Working Drummers only...What did you get for your NYE gig...Let's be honest

Full honest disclosure...I got $300 and not feeling great about it. I never have to ask about pay because my bandleader always takes care of me. but this time I'm feeling a little off put, if you know what I'm getting at. Last year we made $400 each and the year before I think it was $500...

    Vintage Ludwig questions

If you have woodworking skills, the parts are available...especially if you are building a "player" set...then you can usw repro legs and such. Your converted FT will end up with extra holes so authentic is not the theme here. The fact that there were snare beds necessitated having the bearing...

    Vintage Ludwig questions

Keep your eye out for that 15 X 12 field drum....the sound awesome when tune correctly. My set of "players" is 12, 13, 15, 20. I had the bearing edges redone because, like many sets from that era, they were used without reso heads and they got dinged up a bit.

    Warped Sticks?

You may have misunderstood...I do not intend to heist sticks, (or anything else), but if the store can't provide a competent clerk in that department, then I don't have a problem with self service. I just take the sticks up front and check them out there. Noone has ever questioned me, ( other...

    Warped Sticks?

I have no qualms about going behind the counter to the stick rack if I can't get help. I've even had the drum guy walk in while I was back ther and ask "Find what you need man?" No wonder they've been teetering on bankruptcy for years!

    Warped Sticks?

When I buy sticks, I always bring a digital scale. I go through several sets initially rejecting any wobblers or pairs that do not tone match....then I weigh them looking for any in the 50 gram range. I appologized to the drum tech at G.C., but he told me he gets this all the time.

Just Got One of Those New Russ Miller X-Clicks for Crossticking..it’s great

If you have a set of claves you can easily make one that works very well...and will cost very little. The rubber bands keep it from "walking".

Sad News and an Appreciation of Surf Music

There was a series of "Surf Satire" albums released under the title "Surfink". They were a collaboration with studio men, (notably Earl Palmer and Leon Russell), and Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, the hot rod cartoonist and promoter. Despite the tung-in-cheek subject matter, the music was top shelf.

Sad News and an Appreciation of Surf Music

Earl Palmer was the drummer on a lot of those early surf tunes. He preceded Hal Blaine as the "A list" studio man on the west coast. Then, of course, there was Mel Taylor drumming with the Ventures, but the guy who really stood out remains little known, and he was Ron Wilson of "Wipe Out" who...
