    Powerstroke 3 or 4 for a 26" bass drum

....or do you mean that the added ply which is the difference between the two alternatives will not give me the same result as a felt strip.

But the 2-ply in this case is also muffled with an inlay ring. Or do you mean that a felt strip is not the same as using a inlay ring? Because that is also interesting to discuss.

    Powerstroke 3 or 4 for a 26" bass drum

Here you can find very cool sound clips of different drums. https://unleasheddrumstudio.com/gear Listen to the bass drum called "The Judge" (1930’s Ludwig & Ludwig Maple 14″ x 26″). This is the sound I am after. I love the fooomp kind of sound and still it is not extremely boomy. Compare it to...

    Powerstroke 3 or 4 for a 26" bass drum

I fully agree and that was exactly my point. A lot of us use a PS3 with additional muffling but Remo actually gives us just that with the PS4. But as I said, very few seem to use them. The more we talk about it the more curious I get :D

    Powerstroke 3 or 4 for a 26" bass drum

Yes, a long time ago I used clear pinstripe as batter. What actually makes me want to try the PS4 is the fact that today I am using felt strips on my PS3.....and that drum is only a 24". Now I am going up in size to a 26" and the coated PS4 doesn't sound dead on the official Remo sound clip. I...

    Powerstroke 3 or 4 for a 26" bass drum

A lot of interesting thoughts here, and please keep them coming :) .....especially if you have any experience with the PS4. The bass drum comes with a clear PS3 batter and Ludwig single ply reso. Right now I am thinking of buying a coated PS4. This way I can try out the different combinations...

    Powerstroke 3 or 4 for a 26" bass drum

While I am still waiting for my new Ludwig kit to arrive I am thinking on which bass drum head to use. My current bass drum is a 90's Pearl MLX 16x24. Right now I use Remo PS3 both for batter and reso together with a felt strip on both heads. I have a small 4" hole in the reso and a small...

Any Pearl drums enthusiasts? What’s your opinion on Pearl?

There is a lot of drum brand psychology in this thread :D I was smiling a lot because I recognize myself in a lot of your stories. ….and sometimes it is just reversed. My first set was a mixed set (Premier, Pearl, TAMA, Maxwin) but that set does not count. For my first real purchase there was...

New Ludwig classic maple bearing edges

Now I have payed the deposit so the order is complete!! :p Got a small symbolic discount but I still think it is insanely expensive. I just need to forget the amount.....until it's time to pay the rest.

New Ludwig classic maple bearing edges

Arghhhhh, I got the final quote and now I hesitate again. The already very high Swedish prices for American drums are getting even higher with these edges. But not only with $50 but rather $100. For me that means that I land on approx $5000 in total  Either Ludwig has raised the prices...

That's true. At least double 45 will be quite easy, putting the apex in the center.

New Ludwig classic maple bearing edges

Today I finally made up my mind and ordered the set....with full round over on all drums. Thank you all for your input, it was most appreciated. I also got in touch with another forum member who had first hand information on how a classic maple sound with full round over (baseball bat)...

Overall a very nice sounding kit. I really liked the 16" floor tom. I like the bass drum also especially when played harder in the louder parts. Is it you playing?
