I guess it's similar to how I'm engaging in 'group think' simply because I bring up how I never see Ming mentioned on other forums, in ads, or endorsed by anyone and when I search Google for Ming I get two links to the company followed by 385 posts on Drumforum.org! And then when I go to...

I never used the term group-think. I posted the definition of 'hive mind' as a reply and I never indicated which accepted either/or I was referring to. On purpose! Hive mind: A notional entity consisting of a large number of people who share their knowledge or opinions with one another...

From memory, I hear the hats as 16ths with the groove somewhere between 120 and 130 bpm. But I don't know the song, I've never played it and this wasn't a day's project. It was sit down cold and and turn on the iPad. I'm only trying to help you out with a problem. It sounds like, at worst, a...

Now you're being defensive and hyperbolic. "Hive mind" is a real thing, and honestly, so is herd driven. You don't have to agree with that observation. And I'm not trying to put anyone in any place. My opinion concerned only a relatively unknown drum brand receiving quite a bit of fanfare here...

Good points in favor of Inde. But there's also something to what Dale wrote. Not long ago I read a thread here about the "return of Ming" and I thought Ming? All I could think of was that cooking show where the guy says 'awesome' every few minutes. So I searched and there are 10 pages of Ming...

I keep the springs about middling. They aren't loose or tight. The biggest factor is the 18 BD with the mesh head and full reso and no internal muffling. If you've never played that combo it's a big adjustment. But I think it's a positive one because you have to micromanage contact with the mesh...

You're making a lot of assumptions from a poor quality video (google default res). I keep my foot low but only my toes touch the pedal; the rest of my foot is off of the footboard. And I'm probably releasing 75% of the time. The road to H .... as they say :) Post a video or not. No big deal.

I can't argue with that. If you're able to persist constant release through everything you play on the BD I think that's a great way to go. If you post a quick video showing / explaining your technique it might help people cop some of what you're doing. I'm always up to learn something!

I think it depends a lot on context. It looks like I’m burying the beater but it’s more an adaptation to playing an 18” BD with a mesh batter and full reso head. If you’ve never played that head combination, I’m hear to tell you that controlling beater flutter is a big issue! I’m also resting...

FYI: Sabian cymbal refresh now only supports "new" logo

I was considering having an old first generation HH ride redone due to a serious funk on the bottom from it being stored in an Anvil road case for 25 years and the foam in the case deteriorated and decided to become part of the cymbal -- the entire bottom. I cleaned it as well as I could but...

    Your favourite rack tom size

It's funny, I practice 2-3 hours a day on a set with 8 and 10 rack toms, but I'm thinking of selling it and outfitting my primary set (RC) with mesh until I can finally get a space to let em rip wide open. So I set the RCs up and the 12 and 13 toms looked like floor toms from playing the toy sizes.

True. I posted one in this sub-forum the other day with suggestions for anyone struggling with foot speed and then realized it was in General and was going to delete it before I realized there are a few guys who post videos in General on a regular basis and they aren't moved.
