For everyone's info, when Slingerland went out of business, "Chicago Drum" hired the Slingerland employees and kept the Slingerland set but put their name on the drum. This is what I was told when in Chicago.
The plastic tip was a bit larger than the plastic tip on most sticks and pretty close to a round tip. I wish someone had a set we could see. I don't imagine that they are made anymore.
Does anyone remember Slingerland's plastic tip with flat head drumsticks from the late 1960s to early 70s? I really liked them. Maybe they will bring them back when DW gets the company going again.
Thanks, ptfitzy
The used 70s Acrolites are selling for more than that by music stores and other online stores. Do you think that is the rule or exception? I haven't found any under $150.
I forgot to ask. I had the old Badge on my first Acrolite in 1968. My black one is the square Blue Badge. How do you tell which Ludwigs are made in the US and the ones made in Japan, or can you.
I've had both. The original and the black. I can't tell the difference in sound. I miss the dampener on the black that was on the original aluminum one.
In the 60s to present, I have loved my Ludwig and Slingerland drums. Slingerland lets you almost always make that great rim shot every time due to the rim being so close to the head.
