I've always called it a '72 Fullerton but I'm sure someone told me they have a different name. Tuning wise they've always been a dream whatever I've put on them. Thin shells that sing.
Not the easiest to tell but here's a song where I play the Toms quite a bit (Koko by Duke Ellington)
I'd never played one and then over the past couple of years a bunch of Remo stuff has crossed my path.
First I was looking after a venue's drums during lockdown and tried repairing what I believe was an Encore. It weighed a ton & doing any work on a battered old house kit was almost fruitless...
I have a similar kit & use Aquarian modern vintage heads on top of the toms and they sound great. Single ply clears on bottom. Very 40s vibe. Also try Remo Vintage Ambassadors for similar. Bass drum has a single ply Aquarian batter & modern vintage reso, no muffling. Love this kit, use it for...
I have a snare that looks great & has a very 60s sound but is a lot like a classic Italian car, IE not working most of the time.
I've had the lugs redrilled but I'm still waiting for them to be posted back to me.
This is me from above with my big 16 piece swing band, Big R Big Band.
14" Istanbul Mel Lewis hi hats
18" Istanbul sizzle ride (used as a crash)
22" Zildjian 'left hand' ride
19" Istanbul Mel Lewis crash ride (used as a crash)
Kit is a Rogers in WMP
I was asked to give some idea of value to some drums and struck rare gold for the UK.
I Found 4 Old Ks. An 18" ride, looks like 40s-50s from the stamp, and likewise with a pair of hi hats. Top hat has a crack but doesn't effect the sound. Ride still has autograph.
There was also another older...
Don't stumble across these very often in the UK....
A mate's boss died last year leaving a lot of drums behind that his widow wanted an idea about price, though she mainly wants them played by people who'll want them.
I won't mention all the bits that were there, though I probably wanted all...
thanks all or the comments. It doesn't seem to matter what I mount the Cowbell on, it always works loose.
I think i need to isolate vibrations to the fixing, as the cowbells are either cheap ones (they have the sound that's right), or really old Premier ones without very good fixings.
