Vintage Sonor Teardrop Snare with the absolute worst strainer/butt design! Good replacement?

This is what I did when I had a teardrop snare a few years ago. Works great!

Newbie needs help with Ludwig snare ID - it was sold to me by GC as an Acrolite, but...

Like others have said, not an acrolite. My guess is that is a Ludwig ss Rocker snare with a new strainer and a bo badge. Is there even such a thing as a 10 lug Acro? I thought acrolites were only 8 lug!

Local drummer passes, and I've been asked to help the widow valuate this Sonor kit from the 90s.

My music teacher sold his Sonor Designer (blue marble finish, or somthing like that) with pretty much the same configuration (if memory serves me well) for 3.000€. Can't recall if hardware was included or not, but I don't think so because there's some Sonor cymbal stands and snare stand here and...

So, my old Tama 1st Chair Throne just split in 2 places where the legs meet.

Yes they can. I've done it a couple of times (not in a throne but on cymbal stands). You just have to find the right kind of rivets and buy the proper tools to do it. But I'm pretty sure it is easy there on the US (not so much in Europe) and any decent hardware store should have that. But a...

So, my old Tama 1st Chair Throne just split in 2 places where the legs meet.

I once used a house kit that had one of this thrones and during performance the throne just collapsed. The culprit: the rivets gave up!

Vintage Sonor Teardrop Snare with the absolute worst strainer/butt design! Good replacement?

Keep the strainer. Once you get used to it you will find it very straightforward and effective.

that “help/rubber soul” snare sound from ringo

Wood snare, no muffling, fairly tigth heads and distant miking on top of drums aiming at the center! Recorded with my phone but it gives you something of an idea. Snare buzz is just too much, but when you start adding bass, guitars and vocals it almost goes away Edit: cannot attach a mp3 file...

    Weird (or not) Paiste 404's

Yeah. I think you guys are right! These seem to be an "all purpose" cymbal. The 20" is great as a ride or a big crash. It only weights 1882g so I can whack him pretty easy and it opens up quickly!

    Weird (or not) Paiste 404's

I don't know! But it seems kinda weird that most of the 404's I've seen have a ride or crash stamp but these don't! Here's one like mine that was sold here in DF by the user @Piggpenn: https://www.drumforum.org/threads/sold-paiste-20-404-series-ride-cymbal-sold.179413/
