    Sorry, but you are wrong on this call. That is a grommet hole...i'll lay money on it that this tom was originally a 12x12 turbo tour tom, and was chopped down to 8x12. When you do that, the original grommet hole ends up in some pretty funny places.

    Your right matt, the 12" tom was probably cut down. Turbo tour 12" toms were 12x12. All the toms in the turbo tour line were "square sizes". I have 2 sets of these Mahogany/Birch tour customs, both of which have conventional 8x12 toms.
