Post gig, fav is Makers Mark. 3 Ice cubes and a splash of branch water.....
Otoh, I’m not on call tomorrow. Wife’s working the weekend. It’s our only night for the weekend. We’re both health care workers, and really busy right now. Thinking it calls for steaks and Negroni’s!
Got a call yesterday. Looks like the jazz trio is getting back together. We’re all vaccinated, and wanting to play. Not looking for gigs yet, too early for that. But it would be good just to get to play again. Restless....
And, I really enjoyed the original music jazz gig.
If you have orphans to wrap, go to your local fabric store Used Elmers glue thinned with water for adhesive. $30.00 vs several hundred to wrap. Indestructible. Covering multiple holes. Perfect!
Ok, I’ll add on my favorite gigging set. ‘58 Ludwig bass and snare. ‘70’s Gretsch toms. More holes then you can imagine. Played them almost every gig the year before lockdown.
If you can find one, cannot recommend a Yamaha HipGig enough! Picked one up for practices, became my gigging weapon. Yes, I should trim the felt strip.......
World Ukulele Day. Inspired me to come home and try to make my first ukulele video. iPhone camera, dog food box for a tripod. Go easy on me!

Trying something different. Had leeks left over from making salmon bisque for Christmas Eve. Attempting a leek, mushroom and Gorgonzola galette. Learning to be patient baking. Trying to get a nice brown without burning. Patience, Grasshopper. I can see we need an oven thermometer. I don’t trust...
My last before the shutdown. Original jazz trio gig. I miss it. OTOH, I just got released from covid isolation tonite. I work in surgery and had an “incidental exposure”. I’m ok with staying home.....
Aw man.....
Got to see him with West Bruce and Laing. Mott the Hoople opened. Quite a show. Always enjoyed playing Mississippi Queen. Let me go with More Cowbell.....
Pretty funny. A Moab S I saw on CL tonite is calling me. Been wanting more of a beater/camping bike. Looks like it'd suit the purpose. The suspension fork's a demerit, but I could probably live with it....
That.........
Listen to a beginner play a 4 on the floor. They get bored, can't ever get the drive. Play iy like you mean it. A well played, simple beat is a thing of beauty......
Went that theory with my current set. But, I like 20’s, went 10/13/20. ‘59 Ludwig bass. ‘70’s Gretsch toms. All beaten orphans. Wrapped in batik cloth. Sounds great, total cost less then $150. Hipgig on steroids! And it saved them from being dumped.
