Will added rivets kill value of K Complex Ride?

I once bought a 22" Constantinople renaissance for about 170$. The seller had set the price to that because it had non-factory rivet holes, and he was surprised that the cymbal sold in 15 minutes. Holes are really well made and only way to know they are not factory is that one of them is on...

What is going on in Norwell?

What Nacci is presenting here, is actually pretty perfect damage control. Well done, this is how you follow up your mistake. I wish all could live up to that code, myself included. :)

What is going on in Norwell?

22" k light at 2947 gr? No way. That's most definitely a weighting error. I've had both 22" and 24" versions of that cymbal. 22" was about 2250 gr and 24" almost exactly 3000 gr. And I've played many others. That weight difference in the same size ride would equal a spectrum from thin ride to...

This Brady Does Not look like a Jarrah Ply

I just don't understand the part that happens before. When putting the shell together, aren't individual plys cut to exact length so that they will just barely touch at the end, and this should not create any ridges. At least that's how most manufacturers make shells, and there's no...

This Brady Does Not look like a Jarrah Ply

I did some photomagic to bring the wavy and uneven ply joint inside shell more visible. :p

This Brady Does Not look like a Jarrah Ply

Never ever have I seen a ply drum with uneven ply seam running across the shell like that. Can you explain that detail? How would one even manufacture such a shell?

This Brady Does Not look like a Jarrah Ply

I just have never heard about a Brady single ply snare. They have produced carved solid snares, but not bent single drums to my knowledge. I might be wrong of course, but if I had to bet, I would put my money on that not being a Brady shell. Hopefully Kelly will chime in.

This Brady Does Not look like a Jarrah Ply

Did some more detective work. There is a Brady ply drum for sale in Ireland with the same era badge (including correct lugs). This picture is from that drum. Notice the dead straight ply joint running along the shell. This is what a ply should look like. Too many red flags on the drum that the...

This Brady Does Not look like a Jarrah Ply

Definitely not a jarrah block snare. But it doesn't really look like a ply shell either. Look at the joint. I remember seeing this uneven ply joint only on single ply drums. Also, I don't see separate plys on bearing edge, although on dark drums is sometimes difficult. Not saying that this is a...

BREAK OUT THE PICS... Lets see your SOLID 1 ply Snare Drums!

Thanks Nacci! Yours is absolutely stunning too. The drum is maple. The finish is called burned ale matte, if my memory serves me right.

BREAK OUT THE PICS... Lets see your SOLID 1 ply Snare Drums!

Oh nice! Thank you for tipping about this seller, ordered this one from them yesterday. 6" x 14" SS Classic. I have been bit torn between getting 5" or a 7" deep one, so this splits the difference and then I won't have an urge to get another. Hopefully... Can't wait to get it. :p

Noble & Cooley SS oak vs maple

Well, the title sums it up. Anyone had a chance to play both NC single ply oak and maple snares, and if so, what were your impressions? I have a 3 7/8" maple that just kills, and I would have a chance to get 5" oak in mint condition for a pretty ok price. I just don't have that good chance to...

Pretty interesting findings on the hoop build quality on this review. Nice to see honest reviews like this, that don't blindly just go along with the hype.
