I prefer center strikes (assuming it is not an over amplified setting) since it is rounder sounding.. not as sharp but it seems to have more "feeling". On my supra, my DD reads 88 in the center.. all lugs are evenly tensioned... and my frequency meter reads 196 = G.

I know the difference because I can read a tire gauge. But what is the reference for a snare to measure the tension on the head.

Let's not forget the Falcon Bass Drum Pedal. I tested all the top brand pedal and this was the smoothest of them all and came with a chain/strap and optional direct link. For a price that was well below all others.

[ When I slide the BD clamp as far as it can go onto the hoop, I don't see how the tightness would have any impact on the distance of the cam from the head other than to hold it in place at the close range where it rubs.

I like the idea about the extra hoop. But as far as tightening the tension... I would think that the tighter the tension would give you more real estate and not less since it would flatten the head and therefore move it away from the beater. Do you agree of am I missing something here

I have been using this pedal for one year and went to change the head. I noticed a scuffing down by the pedal and when I examined the cam I saw that is was rubbing. To correct I had to back the pedal off the hoop. Is there any other fix to this

I always believed that the old supras had 2.3 while the Acros had 1.6. I was very surprised to find that that the old supra hoop weighed 443 grams and the new supras 202X weight 645. Do all the 60 Supras carry the lighter hoop?

Agreed that they both do the job..very little difference. But the difference in the weight of the hoops does reduced a bit of the overtones on the newer one.

If I did a blind test I would probably go with the newer version. But, I have owned the 60's snare since 1970 and it has it's own mojo. Also, it has a muffler which I do not use but it is there. The difference is very slight. The newer snare is a bit more focused and I'm sure that has to do...
