There is a huge variation in each model, so every question here is impossible to answer besides the profile question. High and low refers to the profile shape.
All you have to do to know this isn’t true is pay attention. Sure there’s a lot of amateurs who cover up sloppiness with a lot of noise. This is not the case in any professional band that I’ve ever heard. It’s a style. It’s a sound. It is what it is. But sloppy it is not, at least in any...
I had the 20 and with the riser and the 16” depth, it sounds a lot like a 22. I truly loved that drum and it was different from my other 20s. I think it would be different enough in sound and feel from your gretsch USA and occupy the space in your arsenal that you’re looking for in the 22. The...
Depending on the drum, I actually notice it sounds better with toms mounted on it. I think it has to do with more weight being on the drum, similar to putting a weighted pillow in the drum. More depth and focus. The toms might resonate with the bass drum more too, which could be a good or bad...
I just think it’s cool that a major manufacturer is finally offering a nesting kit (excluding the discontinued Yamahas). There’s so many kits out there to suit your needs if this isn’t your bag.
I’ve used dw7000’s forever. My first pedal. I’ve had many over the years, jojo mayer pedal, dw6000 strap drive, Pearl demon drive, mapex falcon. Always come back to the old reliable 7000.
Not my thing but this one does pretty good at dulling and thickening the sound of any drum. I remember playing it on a backline kit at gig, metal snare and thinking it sounded pretty “woody”...
He means they lack character, which I agree with. They create an idealized, sort of eq’d sound that’s nice but one dimensional. Remos got more funk/harmonics going on that can cut through music better and sound more interesting.
It’s just the feeling they give me man. Maybe I mean Remos have a broad, open, lively frequency spectrum and Aquarian’s are darker and emphasize mids and lows more, does that make more sense?
Aquarian’s tend to be a little fatter and darker sounding to my ears. Remo are more open and rich across the frequency spectrum. Evans are my least favorite, not as rich as Remos and not as full as Aquarian.
