I will only go out and see original bands nowadays, and even then, if they start playing too loudly, I'll leave immediately. Cover bands I have no interest in seeing because inevitably their covers will pale versus the records they are covering.
In all the year's I've been doing this, I've come across very few who could match me in terms of talent and ability. So I'm sorry, $100 isn't worth me leaving the couch for anymore, especially doing tired Skynyrd covers.

Cleveland Powertone in Blue Onyx. Some junkie robbed it. By the time I tracked him down the drum was long gone. I bought two others of the same era-both of which I ended up selling. They were nice but my first one was magic.
I had one of those. Good pedal until it started making a clicking sound, which nothing seemed to alleviate. I was in a bad mood one day and when I heard the click, I smashed it against a cinder block wall. It never made any noise ever again.
In desperate need of Pearl 786N bass drum spurs. These have a 4 hole pattern, with the horizontal holes (side to side) measuring 2 1/16" center to centerand the vertical holes measuring 2 3/4" center to center. These were the predecessors to the modern SP30 spurs, which I HATE. Must be in NM...
I just got a 5.75 x 14 Japanese made Pearl sensitone, and it tunes up or down equally wonderfully. It maintains body throughout the entire tuning range. Not too pingy when cranked, and not too sloshy when brought down.
I love them both, but when I look at the entire body of work, I have to pick Buddy. As mentioned already, when he played on other peoples' dates he was a master of taste and restraint, qualities not usually attributed to him.
I just took possession of a Japan-made limited edition Pearl Sensitone with the Fat Tone hoops and I'm a believer. The best cross stick sound of any drum I've ever played, especially fantastic for bossa nova.

I spoke with Jack Lawton yesterday, and told him that I would be seeing the Stones in Philly tonight. He told me that he reupholstered both of Charlies thrones that he's using on this tour. Apparently, Charlie is a vintage throne guy as well.
