Simple and sparse. Jesse Simpson 18” Crash Ride and 14” hats ~ Old K inspired - a lower volume set up for sure. Rogers Cleveland Era Blue Onyx Tower kit (12/14/20) with a matching Cleveland Powertone.

    Bill Kreutzmann Snare?

The Noble and Cooley Horizon kit he’s currently using is fantastic! I’ve never seen this snare listed anywhere (I’ve seen a Longo Purpleheart, N&C SS maple, even a Kep at one point) - but this one has very unique looking lugs on what appears to be a piccolo metal snare. Any thoughts on what...

    Curious about Jesse Simpson originals

I just ordered a small bikini kit set that arrived, 14” hats and 18” crash ride. Not a 22” as is being discussed here, but Jesse is FANTASTIC to work with, and his craftsmanship is inspiring. I sent him a few YouTube videos of the sound I was going after and he nailed it. I’d recommend his...

    Longo Cherry Snare

I’ve been on the hunt for a while - looking for a Longo Cherry 5-6” depth x 14” diameter. I know @Markkuliini isn’t going to part with his :) Anyone else have one they’re ready to move along? Thanks!

Gretsch RB aqua satin flame drums

Great find and awesome restoration this far! After a similar search, finding the same lack of color correct inlays, I went with blond hoops with a WMP inlay - I like the lighter look of the kit and it matches my WMP name band snare so that was my internal justification.

That’s a very helpful rundown, thank you!

Slingerland Radio King Dating - So Close (what's it worth?)

So it looks like it sold already - listed at $900... but with 2 offers, so we may never know the sale price. What would a late 40's Radio King with (what looks like) three extra holes/plugs go for on the open market? Just curious how I can dip my toe into solid shell Radio Kings and pay a fair...

Slingerland Radio King Dating - So Close (what's it worth?)

Precisely why I posted here - I knew the collective body of knowledge in this group would help find the truth. Now... to find out about those three metal fasteners. Were there any common modifications that would have caused these?

Slingerland Radio King Dating - So Close (what's it worth?)

Great question, not sure. I saw it on Reverb and was curious about the dating - here is the only picture it had of the outside where those holes are:

Slingerland Radio King Dating - So Close (what's it worth?)

I think I've narrowed down this drum to the early 40s, but I'm a life-long vintage Rogers player so I would love the Slingerland experts to jump in and lend their knowledge - I believe the badge tells me 1937-1943 (http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/drcjw/article_1_badges.html) which would give me...

    Buyers/Sellers Feedback

@Billster just sent some cymbals over with the BEST packing job I've ever seen! Custom made hard box, protection around the edges of the cymbals, old hi-hat clutch to prevent slippage during shipment. All around the most protected box I've received in 30+ years of buying/selling vintage drums.

    Best build quality vintage kits

Fair point indeed, but the fat edges and thin shells make for a wonderful combo. With the new repro lugs us B&B owners can enjoy another few decades, or more, to come out of these. But, I will acknowledge the original ones are the one flaw I - as a life long Rogers fanatic - will admit the...

    Best build quality vintage kits

Another vote for Rogers... I’ll even go out on a limb and include XP8s in there. Each era is different, slightly, but when the gigs return I’d have no problem taking out my B&not true, Beavertail Cleveland’s or XP8 faucet tubes.
