I'm doing some recordings in a friends house and I brought along my Paiste 404's 20" ride and 18" crash-ride for a more bright sound.
I noticed something that got me intrigued. Both cymbals do not have a stamp with their type (ie ride or crash), but instead they both have the word medium...
I’ve always made some recordings for myself and friends, but lately, as I have grown increasily tired of my dayjob and demands for recording started to show up more frequently I decided with a couple of friends to open a budget commercial studio.
As I’m in charge of the drums (and...
Does anybody know the mounting hole distance of the Gibraltar bass drum bracket model SC-1BDB?
I want to swap an old Tama 1-1/8" omnisphere tom holder for a single tom holder and I wonder if this fits the mounting holes of the Tama bracket.
Any help appreciated. Thanks
Just wanted to share with you this drum company based in Portugal:
The owner is super-friendly, his drums are hand-built with a lot of attention to detail and their are customizable and affordable for custom hand-crafted drums. This is probably aimed for drummers in...
The title says it all!
Can I share a custom builders site in this forum. If so, whats the correct section?
I am in no way associated with the builder. I just think he does an excellent job, builds excellent custom drums and certainly deserves some exposure outside Portugal and Europe.
Well. My kid just busted my snaredrum head with a screwdriver and I had to put a new Evans G1 head I had lying around the house. Usually I use Aquarian texture coated. When fitting the Evans head I noticed that the collar is somewhat different and because the tension rods are not very long...
For you knowledgeable Tama guys out there.
Do you know if Tama made a omnisphere single tom holder (with the 1-1/8” post)? I only see the double tom version for sale (which I have) and I really wanted a single tom holder!
A guy I know is selling is 90's Premier Genista (22x12x13x16) in terraverde green for about 800USD. I'm very tempted to take the offer (altough I don't need more drums) because I heard good things about these drums.
Can anyone with knowledge about genistas elucitade me on those drums. Are they...
When I started drumming, about 25 years ago, my goal was to have as many cymbals I could gey my hands on. I once gigged about a year or so with 10 cymbals and hi-hat in my cymbal bag, so imagine the weight I was carrying around! The years went by and I started downsizing my cymbal collection...
Most of the big manufacturers jumped on the 17-18" depth kick drum wagon. Why is this a trend know? What happened to the 14" and 16" depths that were standard troughout the 60's to 80's and then the 90's, respectively? Is there any substancial benefits to be added?
I mean, I have being eyeing a...
I know it seems strange but I have played drums for over 20 years and never in my life had I cleaned one of my cymbals ... today was the day ... arrrghhhh!
Long story short, I bought some dream bliss hi hats as a spare to my in house drum, and the seller "did me a favor" and cleaned the...
A few years ago, when Dream cymbals hit the european market (when prices were very very low!) I bought a set of a 14" bliss hats, 16" contact crash and 20" bliss ride. None of them had an engraved stamp, jut the regular ink logo.
Last week someone offered me next to nothing some 14" bliss hats...
I want to refinish a yamaha bass drum I just bought.
Does anybody know a good place to buy drum wraps (sparkles) in europe (I only know st drums, but their wraps are very expensive, altough of good quality - Delmar)?
A guy I know just found this set of drums in his grandpa garage. He asked me if I want them for almost nothing for a restauration project or just to kill some time during lockdown!
I’m tempted to accept his offer, altough I know these drums are in a very rough shape and it’s going to...
