Journey Joins the Double-Drummer Trend with Castronovo-Walden Pairing

See?? Nobody came to the show because they knew there would be 2 drummers.

    1963 Ludwig Kit Price...

I see this occasionally on Reverb and am always tempted to message them about why they're asking so much. "Is it autographed by Ringo Starr and the Pope?"

    47 year wait is over.

Congrats on your find, they are amazing kits. I did a restoration on my Vistalites a few years ago. Silver Dots cost more, and I don't think they're any better than Black Dots, honestly. So I wouldn't get them unless for aesthetic reasons, because of the extra cost. I went with Pinstripes...

    Where the lefties/southpaws at???

I'm left-handed as well and I've always played righty, and I'm so glad I do. I've been in hundreds of situations playing with other drummers where it would've been inconvenient at best, or impossible at worst to play left-handed! Funny enough, as a result of playing right-handed, my right hand...

Help me identify THESE Starclassics! Rare Unicorn? Saved from my house fire + Restoration + I need parts (Pictures)

Looks like you've already polished some of the hardware, it's starting to look great! Even that ugly rim and the tom bracket will look better after you get done cleaning them. If not, I'm sure they'll still be 100% functional. I've seen people underestimate their own gear before, especially...

Help me identify THESE Starclassics! Rare Unicorn? Saved from my house fire + Restoration + I need parts (Pictures)

Buying all new official Tama hardware will cost a LOT of money. Maybe even more than the kit is worth. I'd be shocked if you could do it for less than $900. Maybe more like $1200-1500. I mean, new Starclassic lugs are $12.50 each. That's close to $600 for just the toms alone, not including...

EBAY/CL/STUPID DOTD and other sites DEAL ALERTS for modern drums!

I stand corrected. It looks like they are! I don't remember ever seeing them say where they were made, but maybe I missed it. Usually, when something is cheaper, there's a 95% chance it's made in Asia.

Those snares are made from North American Maple, but are actually made in Asia. That's a great deal, though. If they were made in the USA, they'd have a $200 surcharge. Sad but true.

Price Increases - Good for the used market?

I've been watching Reverb closely over the last 6 months. Used prices have been creeping up...but it's not due to high demand. There is plenty of used gear being added every single day, and yet almost none of it sells. Take used snare drums for example. For every 7-10 snare listings that get...

***Another crappy cell phone video with reworked snare beds*** Started building my solid Cuban Mahogany snare drum shell.

Snare beds seem to be between 2mm and 3mm in depth. 2.7mm might actually be the sweet spot because I've seen many with that measurement. I cut my own snare beds on an old Ludwig marching drum. The end result was very good because I took my time. I first marked out the width. Something like...

    K sweet crashes?

That's a sweet setup, but the muffling on the snare seems a bit extreme.

    The SnareBuzz plug-in

This studio simulation thing has gone too far. What's next? A plug-in that simulates the sound of the band breathing down your neck to finish your drum tracks?

Anyone use a snare side rim on the batter side?

The only downside to using a snare side rim on the batter side.....is knowing you used a snare side rim on the batter side. It's mostly a mental thing, at least it would be for me. :D

how do you deal with noise during practice?

I don't play that loud, so I just use Audio Technica closed-back (M50x) headphones while I'm practicing to a metronome, or while using my Yamaha EAD10, and it takes out plenty of the noise to make everything tolerable. In fact, sometimes I find myself cracking an ear so I can hear the drums in...
