Any thoughts on new Ludwig Club Dates?

They are. "New" refers to the most recent iteration.

Any thoughts on new Ludwig Club Dates?

I believe, and I could be wrong, but the Club Date SE's were made overseas with Cherry shells whereas the Club Dates were a 7ply maple/poplar shell made in the USA. Hence the price difference. Also, the SE's were discontinued by the time the Club Dates rolled out. SE's are solid kits but there...

Any thoughts on new Ludwig Club Dates?

Not sure about the flaking but I imagine it handles close to any other modern painted satin finish. As far as the shells, when I worked at CDE we loved them. Very warm and super lightweight. They do have a very very rounded bearing edge so it's not going to have a massive tuning range, but the...

    Classic Maple 22" Ludwig CRAP

Pretty odd situation you’re in. My cm, and the countless others I’ve played, all sound great. I would take the heads off and lay it on a flat table to check the bearing edges. Just seems odd it would be both sides though giving you tuning issues.

    83/84 Tama Imperialstar Kit.

I have a straight shell, zola coat, Imperialstar that I love. They are killer kits that sound way better than the going rate usually is for vintage drums. Good gigging kits you can take around and not be around to beat up.

New Kit Day - Pearl President Sunset Ripple

These might be the only pearl drums that I think are pretty sweet. That wrap is out of this world awesome!

Got bit by the Gretsch bug...

I think for me it would be the USA custom. There is just something addictive about their sound. I have such a fun time playing them and can really be tuned all around no problem. I think I play the 13/16/22 USA more than anything else. I really do like the brooklyns too, but the USA usually beat...

Ludwig Standard snare in 6.5 depth?

I'd be curious to know if one exists as well. That would be pretty neat to see.

    Q Drum Co. strikes again!

I'd prefer a ST. Anger reissue snare but I guess this will have to suffice for now...

    Q Drum Co. strikes again!

Totally makes sense. Great snare. I have aluminum and copper as well. Hopefully, I'll snag a kit soon!

Josh Freese Joining The Offspring Tour Reminds Us There's Not a More "Go-To" Drummer Today

Josh is incredible. Loved his work with A Perfect Circle.

    Q Drum Co. strikes again!

I was able to snag this beautiful brass Gentleman’s series snare. A bit heavier than a Black Beauty so I’m thinking it must be a thicker shell. It sounds absolutely phenomenal!

Gretsch Catalina vs. USA Custom or Brooklyn

That yellow satin flame cat club has been calling my name. That thing looks great!

Gretsch Catalina vs. USA Custom or Brooklyn

It's not the drums, it's the drummer. That's all that really matters. That being said, you should enjoy what you play, and having a quality instrument helps. From beginner kits to top-of-the-line custom kits, there has never been a better time to be a musician. Entry-level kits nowadays, for the...

Gretsch Catalina vs. USA Custom or Brooklyn

I think the Catalina's are great drums, but they don't really sound like traditional Gretsch. Catalina's are made of Luan (mahogany) and get a great warm lush sound when given good heads/tuned well. USA's are a maple/gum layup and because of that, will have more presence and mid-range, but will...

Price Increases - Good for the used market?

I guess my point was more about how this affects the used market and less about the prices of manufacturer's products. I think the used section of reverb is about to get a lot busier haha.

Price Increases - Good for the used market?

Multiple friends in the drum shop community have confirmed it. Not even the worst if you consider the guitar market. That being said, you can already see some of those prices reflected on some newer Reverb listings. Some wrapped and satin USA kits are in the 3300-3500 range for a 3 piece. That...

Price Increases - Good for the used market?

My friends and I had a discussion about the recent price jumps in new gear. Most, if not all, manufacturers are going to raise their prices before the end of the year (I believe it's talked about on another thread in more detail). It's not in their control, supply costs (wood/parts/labor) have...

Got bit by the Gretsch bug...

I think they all have their own character. The Brooklyn's just sound badass. Not sure how else to describe them. Round and warm but with volume and tuning range. The vintage Gretsch and the modern have a lot of the same characteristics - tone for days with great punch. The vintage kit just has...
