    Mehteran Cymbals

That's new. Only place I found them was also on Reverb but it was called Mugan Music Group out of MI I think. Better prices than Sounds Anatolian but less selection. I did ask about some hats and he said he can order whatever you want.

    Mehteran Cymbals

Hey all. I just discovered a new Turkish brand called Mehteran Cymbals. It was started by one of the Diril brothers who used to work with Meinl (as I think they all did) on the Byzance line. I'm not affiliated or anything but just figured I'd pass it along. They have a line called Rain that seem...

Heads and Muffling for a 20" Bass Drum?

I've got a 20x14 Starclassic B/W that I decided to try Aquarian Force 1's on. Both batter and reso. I like it. About a medium tuning on the batter and low on the reso with an empty drum. If I want to add some more low end I just roll up a towel and put it at the bottom of my batter head between...

Time for a new cymbal bag -

I just got this one recently. For the money you can't beat it (I know this is a 24"). Very sturdy and the zippers are built like a tank. I was shocked at the quailty/ price ratio. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000T02VZI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_V4PPRV9KR12TNXK220Z9

    Show Us Your KITS!

Only one I have pics of. Finally got the Starclassic B/W in and set up. Sounds fantastic with the Texture coated single plies.

    Breaking snare wires... (Poll added)

I've never had an issue with snare wires myself. There's 2 things I've always done, 1. When I'm not playing (as in not sitting behind the kit) I leave my wires off so they're not constantly under tension. 2. I leave them on (as previously mentioned) when moving the drum. I used to play...

Tama Starclassic B/W or George Way Tux walnut

Thanks. They should be here no later than the 7th. Hoping with coated single plies I'll get a little more tone and less punch. I have other friends I play with in a more jam band, funkish type style so I fell like they should suit it well. Either way it'll be a bug step up from my current Crush...

Well, pulled the trigger on the Staclassic. As well as some Aquarian TC's for the tops and bottoms all the way around (TC Force 1 for BD). I'm a big fan of Mike Johnstons sounds so figured I'd give it a go (knowing full well his Gretsch is very different from the SC). Also ordered a Bos 22"...

Budget for the actual drums is right about $1300. There isn't crap around me in the used market that I would want. Either all beat to he'll or a downgrade. I'm more interested in wood options other than maple honestly. I haven't completely settled just yet. Still browsing other options.

I'm quite sure I would be more than happy with either kit. My decision May have been made for me after receiving a quote for the GW. That with the added expense of another snare stand for the rack Tom I'm not so sure I can swing. If I did I would be sacrificing something else within my...

You make a lot of valid points. I'm very particular about taking care of my gear. With 5 kids and limited space I don't have the luxury of having multiple kits...lol. I'm not a working drummer so touring isn't something in my future. At best maybe some local gigs. The bassist and his wife...

Tama Starclassic B/W or George Way Tux walnut

Yeah...I keep going back and forth. The GW's, while super sexy, I feel I would be nervous taking them out of the house even with cases. Would still be paranoid with the Tamas but more so because that's how I am with new gear instead of scared to damage them myself. Maybe one day I'll have...

Thank you sir. I had listened to those. I did not realise Carter used so much compression either. Would explain why everything of his sounds so mind-blowingly good. Really leaning toward those GW's at the moment.

Tama Starclassic B/W or George Way Tux walnut

Unfortunately I have no where to try either one in person. Ultimately that's my biggest frustration. Can't hear the Tama even online with single ply coated, which is what I would put on. I haven't heard anything but good things from the Starclassic hardware.

True. I'm pretty damn careful but you can't control other ppl.
