Practicing Jazz with a terrible drumset

I was referring that to if I hit the drum a half centimeter with no external force, it sounds as if I had hit it with half a foot of height. I'm able to play and snare at drum lessons quietly.

Practicing Jazz with a terrible drumset

I think I have that downloaded, actually. Isn't it called the greatest jazz album of all time?

Practicing Jazz with a terrible drumset

Could you provide some prominent artists and songs from the time? I'm admittedly not familiar enough to aptly find things on my own.

Practicing Jazz with a terrible drumset

Thanks for the reply. I agree; my bass drum tension is already at the max lol. I'm more interested in adjusting my current kit than getting a new one, as I like to be frugal with cash, and no business in my area will hire a person my age. I might ask my instructor for help with tuning the drums...

Practicing Jazz with a terrible drumset

I'm not sure what style, actually, I'm very new to the genre; still researching. My drum sizes are: 22"x16" Bass Drum, 10"x8" & 12"x9" Toms & 16"x16" Floor Toms and 6.5"x14" Snare Drum The head for the snare is a year old while the tom heads are six months old (I replaced them). The sticks...

Practicing Jazz with a terrible drumset

Hi all, I've been practicing the drums for about a year now, and after building a solid foundation and achieving skills that my drum instructor has set the "intermediate drummer" benchmark for, I've decided I'd like to start specializing in a specific genre (as per the title: jazz, my favorite...

Paradiddles didn't make my hands independent

Thank you all so much for the advice! 30 seconds ago, I finally did it! I did the second part of the dotted eighths and sixteenths! Now I can move onto the harder third part!!!

Paradiddles didn't make my hands independent

Yeah, I can. I learned all those things before I started drumming. I'll try that later today when I practice.

Paradiddles didn't make my hands independent

I forgot to mention: This excersize uses both hands: no feet. It's slightly off-putting how they made the chart.

Paradiddles didn't make my hands independent

I have no problem with practicing for hours. I've been stuck inside with nothing to do for a year now lmao. I never understood how to practice this sort of thing though. I'm going to try some of the techniques described in this thread. If I can notice even the slightest improvement, hours of...

Paradiddles didn't make my hands independent

Thank you for the reply. I do play drum set. I'm able to do things like the doublekick and play the bass dram without my right hand following it, but I was shocked when I realized my hands still aren't independent from each other. Am I not supposed to be at an intermediate level after a year? I...

Paradiddles didn't make my hands independent

Hey all, I've been playing for a year now and my hands still aren't independent. I can go through all types of paradiddles, random diddle exercises, triplets, etc, but my hands aren't yet independent. I'm trying to play the dotted eights and sixteenths rudiment but my hands don't work...

Vice is the same source that makes videos about how stupid the beatles are. The edge is an amazing guitarist. I feel like people just hate them for their politics and newest albums. (The new albums aren't even bad lol)

Well, I'm honored to have received advice from you! What an awesome career.

Afraid to practice because people might hear me

2000's music... Sucks. All music passes through the same 8 record companies, and so it's all terrible, aside from some indie stuff and a few good bands.

Worst decision you ever made related to drumming.

Alright. If the world hasn't ended in thermonuclear war by the time I retire, I'm doing this. Thanks for the retirement hobby!
