    Badge removing

i've had pretty good luck removing old grommets using a counter sink drill bit. i just protect the shell with a towel or blanket and drill the inside diamter of the grommet from inside the drum. i've yet to damage a shell with this method. i just go slow and slowly drill with the counter sink...

Who Played the Biggest Drumset with a Touring Band?

i've been playing basically a kick, snare, rack tom, floor tom, crash, ride, hi hats and one cowbell for 30 years. i can't imagine ever wanting more than that for almost any gig. even when i've had techs and someone to set up and schlep the gear around i never wanted or needed more than...

Who Played the Biggest Drumset with a Touring Band?

i did see terry bozzio do clinic at a high school outside of st.louis with his first monster DW kit. it was pretty ridiculous. i just remember a buddy of mine did the sound for it and he was telling me how there were so many channels for all the microphones. i know it was hours to load it in to...

Who Played the Biggest Drumset with a Touring Band?

alex van halen had a huge kit on the ou812 tour. i couldn't guess how many pieces. it was basically three complete double bass kits in a circle on a huge riser. one kit had standard ludwig power toms, i think 3 rack toms, 2 floors, plus some other random stuff. the 2nd kit was ludwig bass drums...

love keplingers. i had 5 at one point. sold them when i got sick about ten years ago. but, been slowly building back the arsenal. they are some of my favorite recording drums ever. i now have a 7x14 steel and 6x13 ayotte/keplinger. i'd love to get a 6x14 or 6x13 with 6 lugs. not sure if...

Podcaster: Did You Really Give Away All Your Drum Kits? Stan Lynch: Yes, and I Set One on Fire!

also should say that i just love the i'd hit that podcast. dave is such a great interviewer and i love how he keeps the focus very little on gear, and mostly on the personal side of being a working drummer. he's gotten a lot of great musicians to tell some amazing stories on that podcast over...

Podcaster: Did You Really Give Away All Your Drum Kits? Stan Lynch: Yes, and I Set One on Fire!

one of my big regrets was that one artist i never got a chance to see was tom. had quite a few opportunities but something came up or i missed the show. last time was in milwaukee when tom was touring with pearl jam. had tickets but then family drama erupted and i wasnt able to get down to...

Podcaster: Did You Really Give Away All Your Drum Kits? Stan Lynch: Yes, and I Set One on Fire!

back on topic... stan is one of the true good guys of the rock and roll business. and no one has a pocket or swing like he did. love steve ferrone too...but stan's playing on the heartbreakers stuff, and tom's solo stuff...especially mary jane....is some of my favorite rock drumming ever.

Podcaster: Did You Really Give Away All Your Drum Kits? Stan Lynch: Yes, and I Set One on Fire!

the replacements were a rock and roll band that were well known for being quite the partiers. i'm 100% sure there is no reference to the replacement theory or the shooting by this poster or by the band.
