    1977 Ludwig Gold Sparkle Set

I think the changeover from 3 to 6 ply was somewhere around late 1977-78 although some folks state it was as early as 1975. There was likely some overlap where they were using both types but I toured the factory in late 1976 and they were still making 3 ply shells then.

DW 9000 Pedal-chain drive or belt drive?

You can but you have to change the cam on the pedal so you either need to order one from DW or get one off an old Camco/Gretsch floating action pedal. I bought my initial strap drive in that format from the factory but have replaced the chain drive on two others I bought used. In both tbose...

    Barton drum co drum bags!

I'm tempted by them too but can't justify a purchase because I don't see myself leaving a Ludwig/Gretsch/Slingerland/Rogers/Premier set at home to gig with Bartons.

DW 9000 Pedal-chain drive or belt drive?

Yeah, I sbould dig mine out and fiddle with it more. Some people rave about them but I didn't feel it was better than my 5000s with the strap drive ( I have 3 of those). I like simplicity, I prefer my old Gretsch Floating Action pedal best of all but use the DWs as they are the modern...

DW 9000 Pedal-chain drive or belt drive?

I use straps on my DW 5000s and much prefer them to chains (this has more to do with the cam vs. the gear than the actual strap or chain). With this in mind I switched my 9000 over to the strap but in that case I preferred the feel with the chain. I imagine this was because the cam wasn't...

    “L” arms wanted for rails..Slingerland/Gretsch/Camco etc…Both lengths….

Do you mean the metal strap that grips the spade arm? Once upon a time someone was selling repros of those. If I remember right it was Cherie Willoughby, who seems to have dropped out of the vintage drum game about 15-20 years ago...so probably a dead end there. I always upgrade the "phone...

    ASBA Caroline is back.....

That vaguely rings a bell. I think it was a magazine ad rather than a one sheet. Probably somewhere in a back issue of MD.

    ASBA Caroline is back.....

Pro Mark....maybe, or Orange. One of those (if in fact they weren't the same pedal...my memory is hazy). Much like the Caroline I've never seen one in person but I do remember seeing ads for it.

    Barton drum co drum bags!

Mine have arrived with the padding bunched up from being compressed for shipping but once I massage it all back into place it has stayed where it's supposed to be. If price was no object I'd still go with Ahead bags or, more likely, Beato Pro 1, but price does often matter to me and within...

    Barton drum co drum bags!

I haven't had any problems. I used them last week as I have all my Slingerland sets in the olive brown ones (Gretsch in Blue, Premier in this new color hopefully). No fitment issues for my drums.

    ASBA Caroline is back.....

So I'm not crazy... Still in my files Sent to me along with a catalog and many other one sheets about 40 years ago. I used to send in a catalog request about every three months.

    ASBA Caroline is back.....

I vaguely recall that Ludwig sold this pedal ever so briefly in the late 70's or early 80s. The Caroline or something very similar. I have a one sheet flyer on it somewhere. It was around the same time they were making the Ghost pedals. Whether they made these or just distributed them I don't...

That's the idea, twist the originals around a bit.

    Barton drum co drum bags!

This was on facebook today. A new series of Barton bags coming out soon. They look nice. Hopefully they'll be at the same price point as the blue and olive ones. I was just about to order another set for the Premier drums I just picked up but now will hold off until these are available.

Another Set Makes Its Debut: 70s Slingerlands

I do my own rewrapping work. I can barely afford the wrap, let alone pay someone to do the work ;) .

    ASBA Caroline is back.....

Wasn't the heel hinge on these also a piece of leather? I've never had the chance to try one but have always heard how great they were. I look forward to checking one out.

    How is drum wrap produced?

There are videos that show how eyeglass frames are made. Drum wrap is the same stuff but sliced into thin sheets rather than carved in frames. Delmar takes thin slices of Italian acetate and laminates it to PVC backings.

Will a Sonor slotted key work on Premier Slotted lugs?

I just now saw this. I'll shoot you a pm soon. Thanks!
