    Remo PTS

I just found a Remo PTS drum set for sale. Unlike all the other PTS sets that had this clip to keep the head on the drum, these actually have lugs you can screw tight. I cannot find anything on line regarding Remo using lugs on these PTS drum?

    Slingerland Radio Kings

I will have the floor tom taken apart tomorrow and will look for any pencil notes - “pencil notes would be cool!” No pencil notes!

    Slingerland Radio Kings

Yes it does. But I don’t have a Radio King solid shell snare in my snare collection. The other snare, Duco finish is a 3 ply shell. I know it does feel bad to break up the set but when am I going to find another snare like that. The last three sets I bought at estate sales, I sold the drums...

    Slingerland Radio Kings

Part 2 - the Drumset was for sale yesterday when I bought the two snare drums. They wanted $1100 for the 4 drums and cases. I did not want to pay that knowing that they would be half off today. Went there before the sale opened today and was the second person in line. Got the set for $550...

    Slingerland Radio Kings

It has the Radio King engraved hoop? Wasn’t the Concert King a drum from the 1960’s. The badge on the drum dates it to 1950-53.

    Slingerland Radio Kings

I just noticed that the 8 inch deep Duco drum is a 15 inch snare. The other is a 7 x 14. I never realized they made a 15 inch snare?

    Slingerland Radio Kings

I had no idea these drums were there. There was a picture of a closet and I could see the drum cases. I drove 90 miles each way on a whim that there was something in those cases. The company that was doing the estate sale did not even mention them having any drums!

    Slingerland Radio Kings

I just got both of these drums at an estate sale. Based on the badges, the white marine Pearl Radio King is from 1944-45 and the Duco Radio King is from 1950-53. I will take them apart and clean them up. They came with calf skin heads which the resonant heads on both drums are ripped. Should...

Did You Ever Own a Kit (or single drum) You Never Played, Even Once?

Yes - I have two snare that I just call museum drums. I have a 1941 WFL black diamond Pearl with the original calfskin heads. The drum does not have a sound for the music I play. I also have one of the first Rogers Dynasonic wood snares made 1960/61. It is all original with bread and butter...

Are sales of used just slow or...?

I am outside of Sacramento and list simultaneous ads on Craigslist in Sac and the Bay Area. I never sell anything from the Sac ads. All my buyers for drum stuff are in the Bay Area. If you price it fairly - it sells!

    It Made It!

Just shipped a Ludwig kit to L.A. I put the 13 inch tom including it’s case inside the bass drum. The 16 inch tom in its case went in a box with all the hardware.

    'vintage' DW snare lug broken

Some of my lugs on my 1992 DW 5 x 14 cracked. While DW sent me some new ones, the issue began. The threading on the tension rods are different. DW has used 3 different threads. So they sent me some rods - threading didn’t fit! Sent me some other rods, threading didn’t fit! So rather than...

    Baroque Timpani

Thanks - yes the ones I got look like they are from the same era. Do you think I should take the heads off and use a piece of wood and rubber hammer to smooth out the dents?

    Just missed today!

Well I was 10 minutes too late on this one today at an estate sale. A 1960’s Supra, 1970’s Supra, 2 - 22” bass drums, 13 & 16 toms. The Toms were missing the bottom hoops, one of the bass drums was missing a hoop and lugs. All the drums were rough looking but I love bring theM back to life...

    Baroque Timpani

I found these at an estate sale - I am not a timpani player but thought they were cool and the price was right. Can someone give me an idea when they were made? I was thinking 1920-30’s based on the metal hoop on them. Who made timpani back then? Should I try to polish them up or leave them...
