Soliciting opinions on a depth sizing issue on a new kit!

Pretty unanimous to go with the 16” kick! That’s what my gut is saying too. Just afraid a 14” kick is too shallow.

Soliciting opinions on a depth sizing issue on a new kit!

Looking at a Tama Starclassic walnut/birch kit. Pack 1 pack has a 22x16 and a 16x14 floor. Pack 2 has a 22x14 and a 16x16 floor. I’d prefer to have a 22x16 and a 16x16, but ordering individual drums is WAY more expensive, so I’ve got to compromise somewhere. So I don’t know if I should go...

    New Ludwig kit purchase

Thanks fir info! Really trying to decide on. 14 or 16 depth kick. Just afraid the 14 won’t have the power and oomph I like!

How would you say the 14x22 compares to a 16x22?

Keller getting out of the drum shell business ?

I would love to know the answer to this question… Because I really would like to know why it takes 6 to 8 months for a kid to be finished. When you see pictures of the Gretsch factory, it looks like they have shells stacked floor to ceiling so I can’t imagine that shell molding is what takes the...

Keller getting out of the drum shell business ?

Due to their ties with DW maybe DW could start making the shells? Edit: this has already been said multiple times. Sorry!

OT - bands or artists you’ve soured to.

Kings of Leon's first 3 albums were life changing for me. Everything since then has been like an entirely different band, and I haven't enjoyed a single thing from them.

    The Snare drum Holy Grail

I think you could consider some of the custom DW snares that Neil Peart used as holy grail drums. As far as the most sought-after, legendary and rare snare drum I’d have to say it’d be the Ludwig Supra used to record Led Zeppelin’s debut, or the actual snare drum Buddy Rich played on his last...

British Drum Company Legend Series 22/12/16 (night skye, $1650)

On some BDC kits the reinforcement rings are finished to match the shell finish. He said that he began to paint it and then realized he could simply use tape to achieve the same visual effect. It looked great to be honest! I thought about completing the job myself but I don’t really know how.

Anyone gone from 22 or 24 to 20 bass drum?

I've never had the chance to play a 20. But as far as a 22 and 24 I just like a 22. It just has it all. A lot of it has to do with the feel as well. A 24 just has that extra air to move and it just doesn't feel as tight to me. I've never been in a situation where a 22 wasn't loud or deep enough...

I don’t understand why Buddy Rich is so special. Explain it please?

Oh Lordy I thought this thread died! What sins have I committed for this thread to be resurrected??? All jokes aside, I love the passion and knowledge from all of you. Especially the private messages with sone great clips/records/conversations. It’s just really funny because I was telling...

How much of a difference does the type of Hi hat stand really make to you?

My current HH stand is the Tama ultralight flat based stand. I’ll also use a heavy Gibraltar HH stand if there’s a lot of travel involved. I just domt feel any difference. I’m thinking maybe it’s because I bounce my leg on the HH pedal instead of playing it heel down.

How much of a difference does the type of Hi hat stand really make to you?

Just wondered if there’s anyone else out there like me. I am pretty particular about my kick pedal and my throne. As far as the hi hat stand goes it’s pretty much the same thing. No matter what brand the action on the hi hat pedal is the same and I really can’t tell the difference from stand...

Why the hate on Travis Barker?

Check out the first few seconds of the blink 182 song called “I Miss You.” It starts with a pretty straightforward drum pattern and it’s super groovy man! You may dig it

Why the hate on Travis Barker?

I swear every week a new post about Travis pops up. Man if I was to post a thread bashing buddy rich once a week I’d prolly be banned lol Brother one time I created thread that wasn’t even hating on Buddy, but so many people jumped on it and took it that I was. It was so fierce I had to take a...

Why the hate on Travis Barker?

For those of you not familiar with Mr. Barker, the guy is incredible. Technically sound and extremely educated in rudiments and theory. Very creative behind the kit. Extreme stamina and very powerful with a ton of groove. Is the disdain geared toward the fact that he’s from a punk background...

What's the Biggest Drum Product Whiff of the Decade?

I seem to remember the Tama Omnitune system coming out and fading out pretty quickly. Also, DW made the moon mic, which was their version of the Yamaha Sub-kick. Pretty sure that didn't pan out.
