Soliciting opinions on a depth sizing issue on a new kit!

I’m all for the 14x22. I have a 14x22, 12x22 and had an 18x22. The 18x22 never got played after getting the 14and 12, so I sold it for a 14x24. The 14x22, 14x24 and especially the 12x22 have lots of quick punch and boom. They are vintage ‘60s and ‘40s while the 18x22 I sold was a 2001 dw Collectors.

    GAS Gratitude for 2022

After a few years of picking up WFL snares, I was finally able to get a WFL 4-piece kit. 13/16/24 with matching 5.5x14 snare. Never thought I’d get the opportunity to own a kit like this.

Best Advice For Adhesive For Pearl Inlay On Bass Drum Hoop

Tha Thank you! They still have lots of uneven spots, etc. I used zero wood filler. Up close you can definitely tell they are used, but from a few feet away they don’t look half bad. Thanks for all your help!

Best Advice For Adhesive For Pearl Inlay On Bass Drum Hoop

Finally done! Are they perfect…nope. But I enjoy looking at these way more than the paint chipped hoops that once were. Plus, no more paint chips falling off the hoop every time I tighten/loosen the t-rods. Thanks for all the help and advice everyone! Before: After:

Best Advice For Adhesive For Pearl Inlay On Bass Drum Hoop

Today was sanding and applying coats of primer. I vacuumed the hoops after sanding with soft bristle attachment then wiped then down with a tack cloth before applying the primer. I'll gently sand these tomorrow (got a few runs) and will start applying the black enamel.

Quick question…Did you sand the final black coat before applying the clear coat on the hoops? So far I have my first tack coat of primer on. Used an old boom cymbal stand to hold them upright.

I would have, but I didn’t want to deal with removing the staples that we’re holding the ends in place. The hoops have 2 or 3 sections of inlay with staples…some were holding the inlay down and some were not which got glued. It wasn’t too bad at all taping these up.

Best Advice For Adhesive For Pearl Inlay On Bass Drum Hoop

Glued down the loose inlay parts today. I started with some cement weld glue and it ended up not doing well and being very ‘gummy’ feeling. I ended up using Elmers Carpenter’s Wood Glue. Worked great and dried after about 6-7 hours. I cleaned up the inlay again with a Magic Eraser then taped...

A little progress today. Edges taped up. I cleaned the inlay up with water and Dawn with a soft microfiber cloth. They were pretty grimy. They look much better now. Also cleaned up what appeared to be a few cigarette burns. To know where the drums have been over the past 70+ years… Tomorrow I’ll...

Sometimes a big pillow is good.

Do you have to use any extra muffling on the PS3 Ambassador reso head…or just leave it wide open?

Sometimes a big pillow is good.

Thank you! I appreciate your response. I’m leaning toward the Fiberskyn Ambassador as well. I usually use felt strips on the reso coated Ambassadors I use. I wonder if the PS3 Ambassador will allow me to get off the felt possibly plus it is a pretty thick head with the added layer of fiber.

Sometimes a big pillow is good.

Is your reso-side PS3 Fiberskyn an Ambassador or Diplomat weight? I'm on the fence about trying one of these for my 14x24 WFL. Just not sure what weight to get for the reso...

    Bass Drum Reso Head

Good evening. I have a quick question on bass drum reso head options... I've got 3 kits now and each bass drum for each kit has a coated Ambassador reso head and they sound great (to me at least). I'm looking to see about other options just to try something new. I've seen several kits with...
