    What Are You Listening To?

JHE Winterland, (35 songs + interview version) ; LA Forum ; In The West: lossless on Tidal. Magnificent. Using in ears has completely changed the experience - had completely missed Redding's wonderful bass work til now.

Taylor Swift makes history as she takes over the entire US top 10

Nonsense. Next time I suggest you do a modicum of research before posting. Swift runs her own management company for managing her brand and her career- she is the CEO. She is a textbook model for how to run your own business as a performing artist in the music industry, rather than being at the...

Taylor Swift makes history as she takes over the entire US top 10

In a phoney hillbilly accent: Me and muh little brother Austin wuz borned and brung up right next to one of the poorest states in 'merica, Wess Virginny. Our farm wuz useless. Could'n grow no crops cuz it wuz all covered in trees, cuss it all 'n tarnation! An' ya carnt eat trees, as any fool...

Are you listening to the short 13 song version or the 3 am edition (20 songs)?

Taylor Swift makes history as she takes over the entire US top 10

Today I watched a recent Bruce Springsteen interview where he commented about how talented she was. I was quite surprised so I decided to listen to one of her songs for the first time - a videoed live performance of a couple of years ago. Then, near the beginning of verse 1, I hear her sing...

Taylor Swift makes history as she takes over the entire US top 10

If a recently released pop album by a massively popular singer is the most streamed (on the web streaming services) then songs on that album have a good chance of being in the top ten singles chart. The singles chart is mainly based on how often songs are streamed.

    Let me get this straight...

Would love to own one. Fell in love with that type of cymbal sound after hearing the start of this album:

Guess which Orchestral work is being rehearsed in this photo!

The duck hunting movement from Vivaldi's Four Seasons.

How difficult is it for you to keep the Hi-Hat chick going?

I often use 8 on the floor (eighth note) chicks like a metronome to improvise to with my other 3 limbs. Endless fun. Steady chicking requires very little practice and the improvising provides the motivation to keep it going for long periods and so build up stamina. I suspect learning to do this...

How much of a difference does the type of Hi hat stand really make to you?

Type is critical for me. My essential criteria: 1. Super responsive. 2. Heavy (for stability when doing vigorous chick/splash ostinatos). 3. 3-legged (also for stability). 4. Floating top hat (so it doesn't go "clunk" on every pedal release when doing fast chick-splash ostinatos). 5. Long foot...

Are In-Ear Monitors considered ear protection?

For me it's even better if everyone in the band is wearing in ears with no floor monitors - you then get what's known as "the silent stage". Lots of bands have digital mixers which enable this, depending on the model and how many band members it caters for.

Your statement doesn't contradict mine, (actually).

Music Today Is About Cost Cutting

Another plus for streaming services like Tidal is that they often make out-of-print physical media a redundant issue. So creators can still make a little money from new listeners or those who didn't buy/couldn't afford the original hard media versions. Apologies if this has already been...

Music Today Is About Cost Cutting

I certainly don't have one. Am guessing the problem is way too complex for anything less than a team of experienced economists to meaningfully study for at least 2 years. Edit: Sorry, I responded before realising you were asking Brandon.

Music Today Is About Cost Cutting

That $2000 in savings is partly going to creators who have been benefitting from my Bandcamp purchases. If people like me don't have to fork out money on CDs we have more available to spend on downloads where money isn't wasted on manufacturing and distribution.
