Do Bop kits lose their luster?

It can happen with any kit, regardless of sizes. I'm really happy with my Sonor bop kit, but I wouldn't mind owning Gretsch in slightly larger sizes, too. Doesn't mean I no longer like the Sonor kit, just means I like exploring ideas.

    I thought I wanted 24" bass drums...

Looks like WMP. Why not just pull the wrap off and coat the shell to match the toms (although the lugs still won't match).

    I thought I wanted 24" bass drums...

I had a similar problem back in the 80's. I had been playing on a 20/12/14 kit for some time, but I wanted to move up to larger drums, and more drums, so I found a 22/13/14/16 kit (2 up, 1 down). I didn't have too many issues with the 13, but the 14 on the other side really messed me up. No...

    What Are You Listening To?

Ok, I haven't done one of these in a while, so I thought it time to study another song.... If I had a hammer. Originally released as The Hammer Song by The Weavers in 1950, the song is the brainchild of Lee Hayes and Pete Seeger. Most famously remade by Peter, Paul and Mary in 1962, it...

    What Are You Listening To?

I can't play very well, but I put together 3 power chords and pull off a walking bass line. I'm left handed by default, but when I do it, I flip my hand over. I play the chords with my hand over top, but if I do the walking bass line, I flip my hand back under the neck like its supposed to be.

    Only One Drum Kit?

Yeah, sometimes you have to do a bit of travelling. Not many music stores close to me, either. I had to go to Seattle, which (back then) was like $15 on the ferry, each way, and then I had to do some driving to find some of these places. ...or I had to go to Tacoma, which is 50 miles, each way...

    Only One Drum Kit?

Personal preference. You're not wrong for wanting what you want, but the OP was asking for each of our individual opinions...I was giving MINE. It doesn't have to be yours. You're also not wrong about the additional depth, either, although there is a point of diminishing returns. I've played on...
